    HD combo switching off for no reason

    My HD Combo keeps switching off for no reason. its running on spiderbox and seems to worse on hd channels.
    any ideas?

    wondering on an old box if any caps are suspect inside.

      Mines still running on Carling...... And that has started switching off - it's worse when watching footie on HD channels. I also lose the sound a lot, thinking of replacing the box or updating the firmware.

        im getting the sameissue and cant find some channels like bt sport and that mu signal is high

          you do know channels move around dont you,have you done a new scan or looked in the sat bible?
          Astra 1N / Astra 2A / Astra 2D / Astra 2F / Eutelsat 28A / Eutelsat 28B (28.2?E) - All transmissions - frequencies - KingOfSat

          and dont think thats the end of it ,more to come

            Mine switch off 5 times yesterday within 20 mintues so opened the box tonight and 1 of the caps a 470uf 10v has bowed on the power board, I have already ordered some of Ebay tonight so will fixing it as soon they arrive.

              usually replaced with a higher grade than fitted,hopefully someone can advise what.

                Let me know how u get on....... This maybe something I need to do.
                I 'm not sure exactly what you mean but think its something like a dry joint on the circuit board - is that right?.

                    Well replacement caps came today, and box is now fixed, so far everything seems to be running OK. Will report back if box reboots.

                      I replaced C21 cap as it appeared to have swelled at the top, plugged the box back in....... Still rebooting the box and losing the sound!

                      I have noticed that this happens when watching HD or premium channel- maybe I need to update the firmware, last updated 2010.

                        There's Isn't really any new firmware out there for the Combo apart from Bytemasters I was bored one day conversion to a spiderbox. So updating the firmware can't be done.

                          mine started doing this,bought a laptop cooling stand from the pound shop plugged into the rear usb and its been fine.
