getting warning sign on starview 4 can virgin detect starview 4

i've just got a starview 4 box and need to put the right software on it , i've downloaded bin file v1.07 coz i've been reading all your coments, but when it arrived on me desktop
it came as a vlc file,,, now i don't know that much about this sort of stuff but can anyone tell me if this would be ok to put on a memory stick then flash the box without blowing the bloody thing up !

If you have downloaded the file from the download section it will be a 1.07 bin file

vlc is a pain in the ar*e for doing this
right click on the file click properties click change select notepad from the list click apply then ok
best be safe than sorry

to be honest, it does NOT matter if the file is seen by VLC as its type. As the file still is a .bin file just that your pc thinks its best opened by VLC as when you have installed vlc player you have ticked all file association.

The starview box will read the .bin file just fine.

cable splitting

Matey of mine has VM downstairs with seperate feed upstairs. Should he split sig? Is it necessary? Can anyone advise pls. Soz to post in this thread

Mate jus wants to know if as added precaution does he need to use a cable splitter at any point. He sed for 1 week he had VM box out and star in. When he connected box bak VM he had to call em to be reconnected. He jus wants to avoid any hassle and any possible questions from V*****

The way I see it - the VM message is simply a channel to scare you.

I'm not sure what TalkBack is - but I wouldn't keep these boxes anyway.

Talkback is something in the VM boxes which lets them know when your connected. It registers pretty much anything you do with your box.

All the other boxes dont have feed/talk back so there is no way of them knowing what is connected.

So if you are subbed and dont use your supplied box then they could start to ask questions why you are paying for a service which looks to them like you do not use.

That said why would they give a monkeys they are still geting money for what they see nowt.
