Sounds like the business Cacti, phone protection as well. What kind of
outlay are we looking at. Might be no harm to post details of stockists.
It amazes me how so many people spend thousands on TV/video/hi-fi
gear & plug these in to shoddy power connections. Anyone shelling out
big money for such equipment should push retailer to the wall on price,
and having agreed price push him/her again to throw in anti-surge lead
HDMI leads, & anything else they can think of, FREE. In current fiscal
situation you'd be surprised how far you can push.

i have bought a load of monster products from home theatres, hdmi cables,1 m,and 2 m scart leads and coaxial cables
Monster Power for Better Picture and Sound
in irl a number of high end audio shops did, harvey norman, possibly peats
            home theatre power possibly e200
hdmi lead about 18 feet around e200
            scart cables from e40 -e100.
the home theatre power on link is new generation for the serious person, not cheap i have found out but offers great protection and i am not worried now of a lightning strike which is getting more common.
monster even do one with 2x 13 amp plugs and an in and out sat connector [ screw connections ]
as you said megabucks on top of the range tv and a ?5 scart,i always said if i got a good tv i needed something to match so
50" pioneer kuro plasma, onkyo amp with 7-1 sound and 4 hdmi, klipsch speakers and sky hd and a large power bill and all monster products used even the speaker cable is as thick as my little finger, e500 a roll ouch.
i have noticed also of people getting in profesionals to wire up new tv and hi fi and using cheap crap cables and loose connections and giving problems, u buy cheap u get a cheap picture end of.

Thanks for info Cacti, but 40euro for scart, & thats the cheapest
Think you might be trying to flush out an anonymous lotto winner who's
gone underground, hope you find him. You'll find me at local ?shop with
bundle of scart leads @2euro a pop

if you are around harvey norman or a did branch no harm in looking, neary all of them have the tvs and hifi wired up with large cables .shielding on cheaper cables is not there re-interferrence.

Too much or too little signal and you will get problems.

Cheers for the advice, this one i havent tried yet but will, I assume Maplin do these attenuators??
tried all the other suggestions including an expensive scart lead with gold connectors all singing all dancing but nothing ( if anything the sound on the box has got worse ) still agreed good cables are better than the pound shop ones.

                  keep you posted,,,thanks.

Its funny you should mention the adjustable one...I asked the guy in Maplin today which one i should try and he said the fixed one as they both do the same thing?? Funny that i replied how is it then Maplin sell both types at 2 different prices?? He shrugged his shoulders and said..." Dont Know Mate ".
Maplin have all the stuff you need but lack the staff to tell you which is the right thing to try.
Gonna go back tomorrow and swap it and if that fails we can only assume its a fault in the box...Maybe Costco binman was right with the earthing scenario??
Thanks for your help anyway M8,,,,all suggestions are good for the future like.

If the box is the problem P.M. your address. I can send you STVU boxes,
they don't work on N2 but still fine in UK.
