Starview 5 - firmware

Hi guys noob here. Got my SV5 set up and running. I currently have TV and BB with Virgin. However I want to cancel the TV and just keep the BB. Will I still be able to use TV cable in the SV5 or will I need to get a splitter off the BB cable?

The answer is quite simply yes, but under the present encryption dilemma probably not adviseable, you would probably be better off keeping the contract but downgrading to the basic package or even their "freeview" package, at least then you will be able to upgrade as soon as the inevitable happens.

So the TV cable will stay 'live'? Why do you say I should keep some sort of TV package with them. Also what encription dilemma?

because from time to time technicians call to remove connections to houses with no accounts having the basic package removes this from happening

To be honest why not just drop to the basic package after all if we all cancelled our subscriptions there would be no V****n
would there therefor no free TV

re encryption. vermin is different from sly .sfaik, sly has never been hacked. eire has mostly gone to new encryption, nag3. this is similar to sly's, so will be very hard to crack, if ever.
thats why its best to keep basic package in case the rest of us get hit. sure it will happen,but as to when, god only knows and he's not telling!!

Hi all, can anyone help.

Just purchased a starview 5 and i cannot get the latest firmware version 12 to work. It keeps coming up "not a file of this IRD"
I assume i need another firmware unless you know something i don't.

sv5 problem

Hi everybody (as dr nick fom the simpsons would say!)
have just purchased an sv5, uploaded the latest software, all channels working, but have one problem, the option to sort and move channels is not available, by that I mean that I can see both options, but I am not able to highlight either to access them. is this just a bug or do I have to re-flash my sv5

It is not a bug, the options are greyed out as the SV5 maps the channels according to your provider and as a result manual sort/move is disabled.

There are NO Clones for this box at this time

There is a sv4 channel editor here Digital Kaos - Downloads - Starview 4 Channel Editor (Beta) as the 4 & 5 are practically the same box this should work for the sv5 however ive not had chance totry it on mine yet so choice is yours to use it or not.

Just make sure you download the correct file and read the tut in downloads and all will be fine m8
