Starview 5 - firmware

ok so my sv 5 box finally arrived today and have been trawling these posts as have no idea what im doing. Initially tried using the v12 firmware as suggested by a fvriend but found out that doesnt work for sv5. have tried the new firmware and uploaded it fine, however when I run automatic scan it picks up no channels? I am selecting NTL as i am on virgin media, so any ideas what is wrong? Any help appreciated.... cheers!

depends on your area. i'm with vermin, was formerly nthell but wont pick anything up with that . have to use t/pest or x/cw..

hmmm I was under the impression I had to use NTL as i was on virgin media, that way the talkback being given would be seen as comin from my legitamate box? By using t/pest or x/cw wont that alert them im blagging it, as I dont have a standard service with them? Im from the chorlton area if that helps....

no talkback on these boxes, so dont worry. assume you have a live feed. just try another provider.. should work.

One last thing for this noob......when the channels eventually go off, is there anywhere specific i can get latest firmware?

theres been talk for months about vermin doing a big change. if and when it happens, think we will all be goosed. could be tomorrow or months away. only vermin know. last big change was easy for the guys here, but that was last november. boxes have been fine since then. but the next change may be the end. eire has gone to new encryption now.. no fix. but if you get 2 months out of your box, its paid for!!
codes change sometimes. just press menu, 1570 ,hit default, then back to previous channel(pref sly spts), then wait for update.. sometimes you might have to do a rescan but that only takes minutes. just ensure keycode is on!!
most probs can be sorted here, mate!

I bought a Eurovox 1100 USB and it's now where it belongs, on the tip.

After reading this thread changed to Starview 5 because it sounded good and most of the problems posted here were a result of people not reading properly before putting the USB stick in.

A great big thanks to the many expert posters here who guided me through the process which worked flawlessly.

Just bought a Starview 5 box and the fella said for me to download the software and install it onto the box. Can anyone tell me where I find this software and how do I do it?

As boomer says this is not the hardest box to get up and running if i can do it anyone can this forum and the members are here to help but please you should be seen to help yourselves also.We are here if you need us but just try reading the tut in the downloads section i posted i have made it as simple as i can for everyone to read and understand print it out if you feel it will help you.Then if you have problems come back and ask as long as you have tried we can help

have put the usb in back of box and installed it however I couldnt seem to get the option of putting in the 1570 code. Tried auto installed anyway and got loads of channels with $ showing. What should I do please?
