I think it only works on 2000 and xp m8

I have used it with Vista a few times. But as DD has said it wont work out of the box as such.
You need to follow below for Vista:
1. Right click the HP utility on your desktop, presuming you have installed the .exe to the desktop.
2. Then select Ownership> Compatibility.
3. Select XP, exit out and use app.I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas AdamsComment
