i took a picture of my screen to show the system information and the box of the to show it is sv5 the box usbII but i dno hw to upload it on here. i cnt download the tut or the firmware i gt the firmware from some wher else but this forum wnt let me download it says something bout privaledges ??? i dno what to do pls help!

Wow slow down a bit! thats a lot of posts in a few hours and it seems your not getting anywhere fast, you can normally download about 30 mins after your 1st post, the firmware you need is in the starview section red stickies at tha top of the page, v2.03 is the 1 you need and also the tutorial will guide you through it without a problem, when you get the correct firmware on it is simple, have another go at downloading.

You have 28 posts so i dont think you should have any problems with permission to download m8 if you are still having problems pm a mod see if they can help you on the download problems.

to be honest if you dont know how to do this kinda stuff after all the advice that people have had on the sv5 then im gunna start banging my head against the wall harder and harder and in the adverts it clearly states SIMPLES!!!!

for you guys/gurls not able to download the tut for whatever reason here u go!!!

1. Plug in the box and connect the cables
2.Format a usb stick in pc to fat32
3.Copy the firmware onto the stick via the PC.
4 Switch your box off completely and insert the usb in the rear socket.
5.Switch on the box wait for it to boot up.
6.Press menu and scroll to usb press ok
7.The firmware should start to transfer from the usb to the box.
8.Once this has done hit menu and key in 1570 with the remote.
this will bring up the secret menu hi light keycode and change it to on.
9.You should now be set to scan go into menu and select installation,choose automatic scan press ok then choose your provider hit ok again.
You should now get all channels your after.
If by any chance you dont get the channels try a different provider.

u will get adult channels but as for b-office, ppv, u will only get them if some1 in your area has payed for em. and u will have to search for them

Being new to this can you tell me if there is a method on the box to search for paid for b-office/pvv in the area or would I need to set up some kind of facility to do so?

there aint no method to search for those channel only to search each channel for them. bear in mind you may only view if someone in your aera has ordered to view somthing so basically its pot luck

i found a solution to the not a file of IRD. i have finally gt my starview up and running. You have to use a standard usb which has no built in program on it. i was using my cruzer sandisk 16gb which has a built in U3 program on it. i had no luck with this memory stick i then tried a friends usb stick which was just a standard usb with no built in program and worked instantly. So for those who are having trouble copyin the file of the usb to the box try a different usb.

SCANNING CHANNELS

Im new to all this stuff, when i do a scan will i beable to get all the channels on my starview 5 cause im using a splitter, i need that because of my broadband. i was told you need a direct feed is this true if so is there another way round it.

You should be ok with the splitter on but if not remove the broadband while you scan the re-connect the channels will be saved anyway, I have 3 sv's + bb and all scan ok,
don't forget to follow the tutorial in the red stickies
