This box is a invalid box!

Hi there, my starview 4 started displaying the message "This box is a invalid box!" last night at midnight.
I have checked my box and it isnt a clone, it has been on firmware version 1.10 for 2 months as the box stopped working on 1.7.
From reading other threads it seems that if i turn the box off it will die, so my question is what can i do to stop the box from bricking?

    Thankyou

"This box is a invalid box!" means the bootloader is dead and there is no jtag fix for it at present. You could see if your supplier will help you out.

What exactly is wrong with '1 hit wonder' posters?

The guy has a question, he chooses DK to be the place to find an answer, he gets his answer, he is happy.

            What's the problem?

People should learn to be more polite to EVERYONE that visits this site.

i thought using a max 232 cable would sort the problem out?

I can assure you i have read lots threads to try and find an answer. However all the threads i found the poster had rebooted the box after recieving the message and it was now dead, whereas my box is still on and working (i havn't turned it off).

The message appears when i turn the sound up or down or the channel over. I'm in the east midlands on n*l. I was hoping that as my box still works and i have access to its menu's that there may have been a way to fix the issue.

                  Cheers

As said above the bootloader is dead. The Max232 interface is used when a bad flash occurs.

Although reading again you say it is only displaying the message and has not died yet. Word of warning as soon as you power it down it will die, so try keeping the power to it and hope you do not have a power cut. Putting it in standby is fine.

No, i have left it alone (other than changing channels) as i didn't want to do anything until i got some advice on this forum.

I think i'll email my supplier tomorrow and see if they will replace it.

                        Thanks for all the help.

You could try taking it back to v1.07 firmware, you've got nothing to lose
