    Hi Jok

I purchaced the RS232 Converter from jtags4all just follow the link and you'll see the details, it's specifically for the 8882 fix.

When you look at the link the owner of the site does say it's specifically for the 8882 fix and not for the modem unless you use a specific cable, this is what is says on the website: "This will only do Modems if you get the required lead, E.G. Ambit and you must also use a null modem cable, otherwise it will not work with modems"

I am not sure, but I am suspecting the converter, though I have contacted them and he has said to be all circuits are tested before dispatch.

    Thanks,

    Z

      RS232 Cable

      Hi Jok,

I have attached a few pictures to the post though I think the cable colouring might not be easy to identify. The instructions with the cable are as follows:

      WARNING!!

"The cable end with the red heatshrink on it, goes to the Starview 4. The black Connector has blue on one side. The blue MUST go to the GND connection of the Starview 4 which is on the right hand side when looking at the box from the front.

If you connect this the wrong way round then you may blow the chip (it will get very hot) and you will have to pay for another one, as all these boards are tested prior to dispatch, and as it is a CMOS device you can destroy this with static from your hands."

Let me know what you think.

      Thanks,
      Z

          Hey Owen

You're not by any chance in London are you?

I'm more than happy to invest in another cable but a little hesitant in case that ends up not working either.

I may as well buy another box if I keep on buying parts to fix the present one.

Anyone reading this: Would anyone mind lending me their cable I'd be happy to pay for P&P and a fee if required I'm near Heathrow if anyone is close by.

          Thanks,
          Z

"The Box Super USB 4". v1.12 firmware

"The Box Super USB 4". v1.12 firmware, hi everyone, just a quick question i`m quite new to all this so my apologies, but is v1.12 the latest firmware version for the box super usb 4?
ive had this version installed for a few months and in the beginning i had all the channels but over the months ive started losing channels one by one does this mean i need new firmware or is there something else i can do?

any assistance would be greatly appreciated thanks

first thing to check it might be a frequency change.
factory reset 0000 to delete first, remove any splitters, auto scan your provider, keycode to on,and exit out.

The box I have is "The Box Super USB" it is actually an original, I have checked this by opening the box the main chip does NOT have a silver heatsink on it.

Can attach a picture if required.

                      Thanks,

original then ok,as when you get it running again firmware will be safe.

                          Hey Cactikid

Let's hope I get it running again! I have just ordered a RS232 Converter from a different supplier Tailor Made Circuits I'll try again with that and see how it goes.

                          Thanks,
                          Z

                            re 8882 fix.
Search, download and share files from 4shared: music, video, images, books, apk. Use advanced search filters to find favorite songs, video clips and mobile apps.

as far as i am aware it needs the max cable and null modem to work,it will not work off the usb port.

                                GTRom Loader version

                                Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. To fix the 8882 problem on "The Box Super USB" What version of the GTRom Loader must be used?

I have seen some posts mentioning GTRom v25 and it is available for download on this site but the zip file is password protected and I don't think anyone has mentioned what the password is.

Has anyone actually carried out the fix successfully?
If so what was the version of the GTRom software used?
Can someone kindly post/upload the relevant version of software to the site?

                                Thanks,
                                Z
