Can I ask how this helps? Not that I'm thinking of doing this, but surely putting money on a prepaid card proves that "you can put money on a prepaid card". I fail to see how doing so will rebuilt a credit rating, more so since prepaid cards are being used by people who fail to get a normal credit card.

        So how does this help?

I was pretty much the same, I have a Barclays Cash Card account. You get the option of a debit card, but no chequebook or overdraft facilities. They also offer phone and internet banking too.

Same issue mate my credit rating is disgraceful to say the least but I have a account with Santander and just opened a new account with LoydsTSB as Santander are a nightmare.

Also I recently got a contract with Vodafone which was very odd I was sure I would be knocked back.

I thought that if your willing to pay fee's those greedy bankers will be willing to open an account for you. If you want to build credit just keep applying for a credit card til one of those sharks gives you one then charge only $100 a month and pay it off. In time your credit will come back.

doesn't work like that in the UK mate.. The more credit you apply for the worse your score.. Credit applications stay on your credit file for 12 months (i believe)..

Was going to say the same opsmonkey. Here even applying and being refused shows up on your credit history, the worst thing you can do here is to keep applying as if you are refused your score will take a hit each time.
