iphone underwater !!!

my mrs dropped her i phone into a bath yesterday,,obviously it now wont switch on and the screen looks funny round the edges
is it completely ~~~~ed or can this be brought back to life ?

Dry

Just release the battery, and dry it for a long time until try to start it up again.. then if you are lucky....

even use some of that moisture absorbent stuff to draw it out of phone leave it for a number of days before use with back off phone,tell her next time to play with rubber duck they float

put it in a bag of rice to draw out the moisture, but if you have turned it on before it fully dried you could have goosed it.

As Rodbouy says, leave it in a bag of rice for 3 - 4 days, hopefully it will work, if not it's prob knackered.

i had mine on a coach seat and my water bottle fell on it and dripped on it while i slept for 3 hours.. had to remove the little screws and open it up.. left it in the airing cupboard for 1 week.. worked fine..

Remove the two screws from the bottom

Using a small suction cup, pull the screen away from the phone close to the home button.

Disconnect the LCD, digitizer & earpiece connectors. The earpiece is the last to be removed & you have to be careful not to damage the connector.



You will need to remove the main board. There are screws holding it in place. The charge port at the bottom is a little tricky.

Once removed you need take off the metal covers on the board. Lightly scrub the board with IPA using a toothbrush (the wifes will do). You can also submerge it in a bath of IPA.

Once all trace of the water has been removed dry it with a hair dryer & put it back together.

I do this at least once a week on an Iphone. The battery may need replacing, it's also possible for the charge port to stop working. Both are cheap to replace.
If you do need to change the charge port make sure you get the full unit & not just the ribbon.

i followed the above steps and all went well,,re assembled the phone with a new battery,,charged it up etc only issue i now have is it keeps loosing coverage,,i have service and then i take a look at it 5 minutes later and ive lost service again
anyone got any ideas as to what might now be wrong ?
