My Son who is 16 wasn't interested in school in the slightest.

Then he met his new girlfriend and suddenly he has turned into a normal person! His grades have all shot up, within a year he has passed all his Standard Grades and is returning to school after the holidays to sit his Highers.

When I was 16, and I got a new girlfriend, but my grades went down at a similar rate to my pecker going up.
