Gas & Electric, how much do you pay ?

I'm sure this subject has been covered again and again and maybe even by myself also, , but I thought its time to ask again.

I am with British Gas and have been for a few years now, I am on thier Websaver 11 Tarriff (its not a fixed tarriff) which you can only sign up for online which makes it cheaper, and I also pay by direct debit which makes it cheaper and also Ebilling which makes it cheaper and I am also a duel fuel customer which seemingly makes it cheaper too (they say).

I pay approx ?93 or ?96 per month (cant remember if its 93 or 96), and as you will all probably know everyones Gas and Electric charges are going up in August if they have not already depending on who you are with.

Mines is going up by ?16 per month, so my monthly bill from august will be either ?109 or ?112.

I have an average home, two bedroom end terrace new build, 50inch plasma tv, 42inch plasma tv in bedroom which is hardly ever on, 42inch LCD panel for computer, a gaming Rig pc, all modern washing machine, dishwasher, fridgefreezer, electric shower and gas cooker, and my heating and hot water come from a gas combi boiler, and thats about it. (and just two adults at home)

I am trying to get a scale of what other people are paying and what type and size of house and what they use etc etc, so please feel free to post up and let us all know so that we can maybe help each other.

    Thanks a Lot, cheers

    p.s
all table lamps and ceiling lights are power saving and low wattage.

EDIT UPDATE, AS OF NOW ITS ABOUT ?115 PER MONTH AND STILL WITH SAME COMPANY AND TARRIFF (well the websaver is now called something like websaver 15 or summit, but still the same idea) AND ITS STILL BY FAR THE BEST DEAL GOING ON ALL THE COMPARSON WEBSITES ETC !

, I can see your a newbie and wanting to get your post count up mate but I should have mentioned that the subject only applies to people from the uk as there is simply no way we can compare like for like with fuel prices from another country, thanks anyway mate,

I live in a 25 years old det bungalow with good insulation for that time but not up to todays building regs my yearly electric bills was ?362 last year with eon and gas was approx ?686 last year with atlantic insulation is the best way to cut heating bills even if you rent with no loft insulation with homebase doing insulation at ?3 per roll you would soon get your money back

Most of you guys have quite similar bills to me, some cheaper, but you "terrain", how the heck do you get by with 30 for gas and 26 for electric per month ??? You have to be out of the house nearly all the time surely ?

bear in mind the price increases to us all next month !

Putting mine up isn't really fair, but here goes....

Summer ?20 on each per month

Winter it will be more like ?30 on each per month.

I'm on pre pay with EDF. Tried DD before & ended up in the shit.

But I'm not in all that much & don't have any of those high cost machines, like kids.

If you're looking to cut down on your usage I can help with some advice.
First get hold of an electric monitor. From there you'll be able to see how much your using at any one time.

Those of you with plasma tv's might want to try turning them off at the wall instead of using standby.

Don't use a tumble dryer unless you have no other choice

The obvious improvements to insulation & switching to low wattage energy bulbs. If you can, try fitting LED lights...but check the usage as some don't always save you money.

If anyone wants more specific help PM me. I used to work for a national supplier helping to lower peoples bills.

I have all that mate and my bills are still as per post number 1 , even have the energy monitor which is a good gimmick at first but you get tired of plugging into every appliance and saying "ohh look, thats using a lot" . ( I pay by direct debit by the way, much cheaper "fact" than prepay).

But I know what you mean mate and your post is much appreciated, thanks.

just found out from another person in the exact same street in the exact same house and also two adults too same as us, that they are only 65quid a month for both gas and lekky and I'm like no way man, they either cant be paying enough and going to get in debt (been there) or they are screwing the meters, , I dont want to talk about screwing the meters as there is already another thread for that and its something this thread does not want to talk about.

My elecy bill is around ?420.00 per quarter.
                              Gas bill ?370.00 per quarter.
This seem to be the norm these days.
Ive had wall & loft insulation installed, also all the lighting is low voltage.

But its all the machines that keep pushing up the cost, like we've got TWO large fridges, a very big chest freezer, 4 PCs, 2 50inch tvs & 2 32 inch. Cealing fan/lights in all rooms.
And these items seem to be left on all the time thanks to the kids!
SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.
