we used to play Knifey on a rope swing over in the woods, the swing used to seem massive over a brook, swing out on the swing then stick the knife as high as possible in the ground,, then the next person had to swing out and retrieve it then stick it somewhere higher,

we used to go to the local quarry lake whit oil barrels and a few pallets made rafts , i lost me dads best ball pen hammer had a red arse for a week great times do wouldn't be left near the quarry now health and safety never did us no harm

we used a cot mattress and, one dangerous time, even a smoothe wooden board.
luckily there was a cupboard at the bottom of the stairs fitted with a council-grade door so we had a reasonably soft impact
