Really getting annoyed at UK companies using call centres in other countries (BT)

I am fed up of this, been on the phone to BT's call centres in India for days, they dont have a clue, they are not properly trained, there is a language barrier and they can even be rude and down right stupid.

I think its a disgrace especially when BT is a british organisation. There are plenty of people here needing work. There are also plenty of people expecting to get good customer service. Everyone I have spoken to from there Indian call centres doesnt even know what a freeview receiver is all they know is that a bt vision receiver has freeview channels.

Anyone else feel the way I do? Think that it is not right and its by time these companies put there country first and provide there customers with a customer service department that knows about the product and knows about technology or whatever it may be in this country?

I agree. I've had some dreadful experiences with Indian call-centres. Having said that, I've encountered a few ignorant British twats too.

Feel the exact same way mate, its a disgrace, any company that supplies the UK with a service and is based and makes money from the UK should have call centres in the UK.

I see one of the banks moved call centre jobs back to the UK due to the complaints from its customers. UK banks of Santander I think it was.

The power is down to the people to complain to these companies and move in order to force the issue.

But sadly I don't think it will happen. There is just too many companies who do it now.

done that mate but then if its a technical issue mate they need to transfer it to the technical department, which is based in India so you end up just going from pilar to post.

I agree yes there are ignorant workers in British call centres but least they have better training, there is no language barrier (and to be honest some guy trying to do his job and not being able to understand me isnt fair on him either), and they have a better knowledge of the product.

I have complained about it over and over again and just basically get told 'we dont need to explain ourselves to you regarding why we use call centres in other countries', I pay my bills yet i dont deserve a explanation .

When you make your order its funny how the sales departments are all based in the UK they know well fine that its a poor quality service from these overseas call centres and thats exactly why its not them taking the order, you deal with them once you are signed up and theres no going back.

                        agree with all.

call centres are nasty full stop.

i haven't had the worst experience with the indian call centres of being hung up mid conversation..........because the twat on the other end dosen 't have a clue.

i find the indian call centres and philliphines call centres to be helpfull even if they cant get to the bottom of it.

i have used the BT call centres and when they haven't been able to sort the problem out..................i got some money off my bill heheheheeh

Indian call centres are part and parcel of any company now. The whole language barrier argument is mute, they used to say about it the scottish and welsh call centres too. People like to moan is the bottom line!

As for bringing the call centres back, and plenty of people to do the jobs. Its simple economics. If you can pay Raj 5p an hour, and he is happy to work, and turns up everyday with little or no benefits (Sick pay and the like), or pay John ?6 p.h and have to give him sick pay and other benefits, where are you going to have a call centre too?

Yup, thats why all major companies have call centres in India. My friend is a trainer for BT, and he trains out in Pune, and the people doing the jobs in call centres are all degree eductated, as they have to be to get the jobs, so they certainly aint stupid. Training given is ample, and the support is there for the agents to use. Often though, its people in the UK who hear and indian voice and automatically get annoyed/upset and demand to speak to someone English!

so basically they paying raj in india slave labour rates and reaping massive profits from paying them a pittance, so thats ok is it ? economics shite its all about massive profits, ~~~~ the workers. and you still cant argue with the fact that the language barrier is a problem.
