    Cyclist near miss!

on way home tonight i overtook a cyclist on a straight bit of road leading up to a small but not a mini roundabout.
I pull back in and slow down for the roundabout putting my left hand indicator on.
Cyclist coming up behind me at this point and im stationary waiting for a safe gap to turn left.
Im still stationary and the cyclist pulls up at the side of me (no problem i think) he may want to turn left .

So we both pull off together and i give him a a wide birth still starting to turn left.
So what does the cyclist do, pull straight across in front of me to go straight on (bearing in mind im already turning), in a van with a large flashing indicator on the wing mirror at his head height.

The biker in me realised what was going on and slammed the anchors on, so not to wipe him out!
Cyclist carrys on as if nothing has happend, just swerves round the front end of the van.

If i had been less observant, he would now be in A+E.

And before i get the "i hate all cyclists sterotype" i dont as i am a cyclist when i get it out the garage.

We are alll human and as such make mistaskes, me included, but in all my 25 years on the road and 52K a year milage i have nevee had another road user have such little disregard for their own mortality.

Maybe if he had ended up in A+E that might be a painful lesson?

Well its thanks to your awareness he didn't end up in hospital.

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

good driving mate, cyclists need extra room and more observation. Always best to give them right of way then theres no nasty surprises.

Well seeing as we all have to do a driving test to use the roads, why the ~~~~ don't they, as they use the roads too, even tho they don't have motor propelled vehiches, and quiet a lot of pedestrians are careless basads too.

I have the same problem every day, I have to go through the city of london every morning and evening on the way to work and home.
there are hundreds of cyclists in the city, and the amount of near misses I,ve had I,ve lost count they ignore red lights, people indicating to turn left they take no notice.
worse of all is they blame you. unbelievable

not a big fan of cyclists myself, always have to watch out when turning left as they seem to think they can just keep going straight through you, if there is a cyclist anywhere near, i always wait until they have passed me before turning.

good eyes but you now punish every cyclist you see for his f**kwittery.
i don't advocate knocking them over but swerving a bit closer and making them veer off into a bush or row of wheely bins would be most entertaining for yourself and also teach them to either take more care or get the f**k off the road

this is why I don't really want to learn how to drive, you don't know what the other drivers are thinking/ going to do.

Good on you for realising what he was doing before things could've gotten nasty.

Next time run the ~~~~er over, if he cant see 2 of the 3 large flashing lights then he should not be allowed to operate or be in control of anything with wheels on, and what pissis me off is that if you did hit him and it did damage your van, who pays for it, no insurance, not a legal requirement on a bike, why not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love scaring the sh!t out of the b'stards. But it's very rare for even the crazy ~~~~ers to come anywhere near my car. Mainly due the fact there are on 2 cars like mine in the area, and apparently word spreads,

Not true. As you pick up more experience (and you actually take notice of other vehicles around you). You can tell if someone is in the wrong lane, or they are going to cut across lanes.
These are my favorite people. It's very satisfying to see the look of horror on a drivers face when they suddenly see a 2 ton monster 3 inches off their drivers side as they try to cut across the lane.

This is referred to as 'educating' ignorant w@nkers on lane discipline.

Or, attempting to get an idiot to write off my car.

I agree with Canker.Generally you can spot the way others are driving, and can tell what the ~~~~ heads are going to do before they even think about it !!That goes for those ~~~~ing numpties called cyclists.

Aaahh ! I love the smell of Eeprom in the morning...
