i have been to jamaica,negril beach, on a room only basis and spent my entire holiday amongst the locals.
every single one i met thanked us for spending our jays in their bars and restaurants,they were quite disgusted with the all inclusive sites who had an habit of instructing holiday makers it was unsafe to venture off site for fear of mugging etc.
i found it extremely safe to walk the beach at night and after several days was given the name mr england by the locals
was offered ganja but was never pressurised and mrs england was on occasion asked if she would like to partake of the black bamboo
so there you have it,if you are prepared to take a chance you can immerse yourself in local culture and stoned and boned to your hearts content.

btw 125 jay per night is the going rate for black bamboo but seeing as mrs england has the sex drive of a nun this never came into question
