    Sugar Substitutes

I don't like coffee without sugar, but decided that there's too many calories in two spoons of sugar in each mug of coffee, so started using a sugar substitute.

i've tried a few and found them all horrible except for Splenda, which is a bit more expensive than some of the others, but sucralose based.

anyone else use one, and if so, which?

I've been trying to give up sugar in coffee for years, unsuccessfully. It's the only thing I use sugar for.

Can't stand sweeteners. The only ones that tasted ok were the cyclamates and they were banned years ago.

I use this stuff now. It does contain aspartame, but the taste is masked by the sugar.

          Honey

Honey is a great sweetener substitute, its natural and although difficult to add to your breakfast cereal in the mornings works well when melted in tea or coffee.

I've been using Sweetex for last 25 years or so. I can drink coffee without any sweetener; but I choose to always have one, tea on the other hand, blaargh! Tried it without sweetener, yuk!

It's OK as long as you don't allow the drink to go cold, me, I'm used to it and even if I've left one abandoned overnight I'll swig it down stone cold. Just be warned of the slightly bitter aftertaste when not at kettle just boiled temp.

i don't take sugar in anything else, and i did try giving up coffee for a while but it's crept back in

have you tried Splenda nara, it doesn't taste too bad compared to the others?

I'll certainly try it. I don't really use enough for the cost to be a major factor.

well i tried Canderel and Hermesetas and thought they were both awful; had a bitter aftertaste, this tastes much more like sugar, in my opinion anyway
