true the subsidy has come down, but so has the cost of the panels. someone needs to sit down and work it all out really to see if it's worth doing. As long as that someone isn't me, because I can't be arsed!

I have some properties that could possibly use these things, I am thinking about one in particular at present, just to see how things go etc etc, that why I asked in here first and I am getting some good info, cheers for that.

Some of the rest of the family have private accommodation and council properties too, what are the legal permissions you require if its a private or council property out of curiosity ?

The property owner has to give their consent.

the 43p feed in tariff is back until march 3rd it will guarantee you 43p per KWH of every unit generated whether you use it or not

you also get around 3p per unit for any you dont use ie your at work any energy you used will be exported to the grid giving a greater return.

as for you own electric bill expect a paltry return of ?100-180 a year if you manage to harness it use for yourself during the day as you make more if you use it yourself than export to grid

if you can afford it with the 43p feed in tariff it makes economic sense the tariff i guaranteed for 25 years and goes up every year linked to inflation

electric cost will rise a lot in 25 years and at the minute until march 3rd at least these look to be a good deal

most firms guarantee they last 10 years i would expect more from them returns on investment are normally 7-10 years so for every year after 10 you are in profit on the condition you dont have any breakdowns

conservative estimates expect a system to last in excess of 25 years but be aware that things may be expensive an inverter for instance to convert the power to ac from dc are a grand+

but is there really that much that goes wrong in electrics in general , not really

that said with no subsidy solar is a waste of time so if you want it hurry you have little over a month to get registered
