women can get them as well.. There are a few types apparently, the mains two being a crystal type stone and the other being a calcium based stone. Mine was stuck in the little pipe (can't remember the name) between the kidney and the bladder. I have meds to take for 30 days and hope that was the last of it but was advised if you have had them once you will likely have them again.

I have not still pissed the sucker out as far as I know..

My mate was admitted a couple of times with them and as you say they are one of the most painfull thing you can have. Just hope you have some pain killers ready when they pass. Only one or two mm in diameter and he said it was like pissing a hedgehog (didn't ask him how he knew). Rumour has it is is diet related.

I am guessing that the meds they gave me somehow dissolved this stone before it came to the final part of its journey.. No painful slash so far, I even went out over the weekend and got pished on the pints, i was pissing like a racehorse after a few pints and nothing came out that i was aware off.. Hopefully thats the end of it until the next time, which i hope there won't be.

5 weeks plus one day to pass my 5mm stone.
It was stuck in my bladder for 4 weeks getting polished so when it came out it shot out like a bullet with no pain.
It passed new years eve morning so I had something to really celebrate.

After 10 mins sitting on sh1tter in the disabled toilets hanging onto the hand rail trying desperately to knock out a fart or snap one off i gave in. I pulled up my trollies and staggered back into the office area and fired up a browser to look at the nhs direct symptom checker site, the advice was call 999 immediately. i signalled to the bloke nearby to come over and asked him to take me to the hospital. My grimacing face obviously showed I was in some pain and he kindly obliged.

15 minutes later i am in the A&E and being carted off by the nurses. a CT scan and a healthy dose of morphine later plus some other diclofenac cream that they decided stick up my ring the doctor informed me that they had correctly diagnosed a stuck kidney stone.. wtf, I have never had one of these before.

Whatever they did (apparently it was the cream that was the most effective) sorted me out and the pain began to subside in quite quickly. But that was one very painful experience that I am not looking forward to repeating...

Just thought I would share that little experience with you all.
glad your ok m8 its worst pain i ever had i have had it twice i was same as you couldnt work out wtf was wrong had to leave work i was doubled up i just went home it was agony nothing would help for about 3 hours

then i went for a pee and i couldnt pee properly me tail started hurting i needed to go again soon as id finished it went on a while then it went pain eased

didnt realise at the time but must have been a little stone it was only when it happened again about a week later and this time i went to walk in kidney stones they said take these painkillers drink gallons of fluid you should be ok if it doesnt go off get straight to hospital

do you drink a lot nige i know i dont at times they reckon best thing is loads of fluid all the time should stop it happening again

if a big one starts moving it will be a laser up your japsy

that was last year guys.. I have not had a repeat since and try to drink alot, but i am better at that in the pub then in the office..

They say if you have it once there is a good chance you will have it again.. maybe so but not too soon please.. I think I am a person who can handle pain due to another affliction i am blessed with and am therefore not very sparing of others who whinge over a simple broken bone etc, the kidneys stones are a bastard though and had me doubled up...

The problem here, is that you get used to handling the pain you're in. Another condition you're not used to can still come as a painful shock.

I've been dealing with severe pain in my feet for years. But the pain from an abscess sure came as a shock to me.

All said & done, I don't want kidney stones.
