Your probably right, when we went last April to visit family they didn't have chip & pin. Everyone was still signing on the screens.

    EDIT:

The amreicans have chip & sign at the moment, not chip & pin.

As of June 17, 2011, Chase began offering the JP Morgan Select Visa credit card, which also offers a Chip & Signature, but not Chip & PIN capability, to US cardholders. No prior relationship with JP Morgan is required to sign up for the new card, but the absence of a PIN associated with the Chip may make these cards less useful as most unattended kiosks will not accept them. Chase is telling customers that when used in unattended kiosks or fuel stations, the chip in the card is recognized, then the terminal will report "checking PIN", and the transaction will be approved without having entered a PIN. This transaction process is similar to Chase's existing "Blink" approval process.

I thought this was available in the UK already? Some stupid advert with a couple of guys running about buying things on their way to the olympics by just waving their (visa?) cards around.

Just do this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_5UYcyO3Pg]Dont put RFID in microwave - YouTube[/ame] and use cash

My Barclaycard has it, however I only have that in case of major disatsers, and even them pay it at the end of the month. Not seen anywhere I can try the RFID thing so far.

            McDonalds drivethru supports it.

            Personally I wouldn't risk having one, the card...not a McD's.

My Nexus US border crossing card has an RFID chip, and they gave me a special shielded copper sleeve for it. Since I don't use it often, I just use the sleeve for my RFID credit card. I'm sure aluminum foil would work.

Just get a lead lined wallet like me and an extra strong belt.Only downside is you tend to walk in a circlre after throwing out time.

Watchdog had a story about this today. It looks like you can scan peoples cards if you have an android phone with NFC built in.

                  Bring on my upgrade
