we all know its a bad habit and dangerous, the gov want us to stop smoking yet if its true what ive read they take about ?7.000.000.000 in taxes and costs about ?4.000.000.000 to treat smoking related illness so if we all pack up where is the ?3.000.000.000 extra they get going to come from, income tax,and vat no doubt, why dont they ban tobacco all together? because of the income no doubt, why cant they remove the over 1000 chemicals thats in tobacco and just leave in the nicotine which is the addictive element of tobacco and in itself is not really that dangerous thats what ive been told in my local chemists, also why when you go on a bacca cruise are you restricted on what you can bring in when other countries you can have what you want.what do you think? and yes i do smoke
smoking what do you think ?

It is a personal choice and should stay as such.
I agree about the 'no smoking' in public places. It has made a big difference in cinemas and eating places.
However! The bad news. Now that a lot of people are being made redundant. A lot of the people out off work will include these superciliuos twats who go around looking for things to stop you doing. You read it here first.
Sex has got to be the next thing they try to ban.

it is a matter of choice,it might have made a difference to cinemas and eating houses but it has doomed thousands of pubs.It is a personal choice and should stay as such.

i think its a dirty disgusting habit but there are worse things you could be doing. banning it is wrong because too many people take joy from it and only harm themselves. also the tax will have to be replaced from somewhere. some will come from ur wages but its drivers who will be hit hardest. eventually cars will be running on ecofuel and electricity and that will be more tax the government is losing. and eventually there will be a fresh air tax and all for our own benefit.Comment

Its personal choice as you all say, with a nanny state also trying to make those choices for you.. Smokers know how much taxes they pay and non smokers never seem to realise that part of it (more like they just blank that part to be honest)..
The section of the population that choose to enjoy smoking should not be demonised and marginalised by being threatened with legal bans. The freedom of 13 million adults should be respected and their lifestyle should be afforded a sense of measured tolerance. Of course we agree in not getting children started and therefore smoking could end in a generation...
I have smoked for over 20 years and enjoyed it, I did not smoke in other peoples houses, in many public places or in front of my mum...
But I did that so as not to force it on others and I should be left with that choice..
However I am now giving up and have not had a cig since Jan 5th (first work day this year), thats personal choiice, for the sake of my future children who I do not want to be influenced by my smoking.. If an individual wants to give uo then fine and if not then fine... Personal choice, its our right...Comment
