turns out we were both wrong. . just a myth!( more probably, modern supposition) at least as far as evedence goes, there is none. makes my eyes water every time i think of it though!

Contrary to popular belief, Yogi Bear is NOT smarter than the average bear.
A recent case study took average bears from different dear sub-genres including polar bears, teddy bears, russian bears, great bears, brown bears, black bears, kodiak bears and panda bears.
All the bears were asked questions on different subjects and all bears including yogi had the same percentage of questions right.
However on the grammatical portion of the test, the bears were asked;

"How many syllables does the word 'picnic' have"?

All bears answered "2" which is the correct answer.
Yogi, however answered "3" as in "pic-a-nic baskets".
The study concluded that Yogi is in fact thickerer than the average bear.
When asked how the results made him feel, Paddington Bear answered
"I'm glad its finally proven what we bears have known all along. That yogi bear is nothing but a thief and a liar"
