    It always seemed a stupid idea to me to earth bond anyway. RCDs and ELCBs are now good enough to trip whatever the circumstance.

    A friend of mine installed a shower, he did the leccy stuff and another mate did the plumbing stuff, both fully qualified. Did the earth bond as it should have been. Owner came home and decided to look under the bath at the new plumbing using a table lamp from the bedroom. Touched a pipe and died, faulty lamp.

    Had there been no earth bonding he would probably have been OK, maybe felt a tingle but survived.

      the outlet pipe of the meter has to be earth bonded within 600 mm of the outlet connection of the meter, as per the gas safety regulations

        BIG earth clamp on to the scaffolding - thats worth a few quid on it's own
