    True story

Daughters ex changed meter round so ran backwards

Council came for yearly check she crapped herself never said out until they were going to evict her if she didnt get it done on this day

I went round put meter back on properly but he had badly bent lead pipe it was ok no leaks but looked goosed

He had also smashed card slot off front of meter would not go back on

Anyway meter is ok without card they just attach card slot to the meter but i said if they mention anything say you told them you phoned up for monthly and they sent someone round to remove card slot

The council gas safe bloke come checked everything it was ok but when he checked meter he spotted bent pipe he said he will have to report its an issue but no leaks so ok to use for now

Gasboard then came to sort it out she ignored door again and never heard from them again she then got free gas for about 6 month

Then she got a letter off gasboard saying she had not put any money on her key for 15months why? It said that even tho she may not be using gas she still owes standing charge

They said they were sending someone round to look at it she moved out 3 weeks later heard nothing since

nearly 16 month no gas bill shows that they really dont have a clue what the other half is up too

She had electric wired up too had to sort that out as well before she left

i worked as a gas conversion fitter in the early 70s, your absolute basic training tells you that the first thing you do before working on a system is to do a soundness check the installation, the last thing you do is a soundness check, if you follow that basic rule you will never leave a leak. The bloke who fitted your meter obviously didn't do that or he would have had to fix the leak first. As for the stiff mains valve, that is probably where the leak is and i can re-grease a barrell in three minutes flat. What a tosser he was

He then tells me that he's had to phone the National Grid to come and replace the shut off valve as its stiff. Clearly he didn't have a tin of WD40.
National Grid man turns up 20 minutes later, replaces the valve but informs me that the original engineer has phoned them to report a gas leak and, as such, even though it's within tolerance, the national Grid cannot allow any tolerance and he's capped the metre.
He advises me to ring British Gas back to get the engineer to come back to remove the cap and turn the gas back on.
A bit round the houses but okie dokie.
British Gas then tell me that it's not their responsibility to remove the cap and I would have to pay a gas safe engineer to come out to remove the cap.
"Get to f**kery!" was my response.
"A metre you've JUST fitted is not your responsibility?"
The National Grid was confused as to why he's been called out in light of the situation.
I'm currently waiting for a ring-back from a British Gas manager.
Meanwhile, in preparation for being told the same bullsh*t story, I have contacted a gas safe engineer and explained the situation.
Their response was that, if it's been capped by National Grid, then they won't touch it.

            Just what the f**king f**k?!?!?
You want to obtain all the people involved and also ask the Manager his name, because a newspaper is interested in the story because they love stories like this.

How does that work, The Sun etc get money out of a DK Members misfortune. As already done post on DK for people to help and share not for one 'person' to make money out of.

I do beleive he has had a stroke of GOOD look by leaving that town, total shithole it is.

It works by naming and shaming people, because even big companies do not like negative publicity, and there are more papers than the Sun. If someone wants to make money out of their misfortune, who are you to complain about it.

The red's on to a good idea here!
Wire the meter backwards so then you can send them a bill for gas they got from you
When your in HMP you could as part of rehabilitation scheme do a gas fitter course paid for by the govt, then you could do the job your bloody self it'll be the quickest way to get i fixed I reckon

What side did they detect the leak on ? From the outlet of the meter is ur responsibility anything else is there's and they would normally sort there end out with no dramas. Where did they cap the meter off and with what ? The normally just put a disc in which is easy to take out.
