****************************************I got a ticket in Merseyside, they sent me a letter saying my car was seen doing 37 in a 30 zone. I asked for photographic evidence, they sent me the evidence but the two photographs they sent were not very clear. I wrote to them and asked them to send me a clearer photograph. The next letter they sent was a court summons "as the legal owner" I should know who was driving the car at all times. I sent them 3 names of possible drivers and asked them to investigate before they took me to court. If it can't be 100% proven you can get away with it.
as the registered owner of a motor vehicle you are responsible
for it at all times and it's up to you to inform the authorities if
someone else was driving the vehicle on the day it committed
the speed camera offence and give the name of the person driving.
if you dont as the owner the law say's you take the responsibly,Please Read Carefully!

not technically correct there are exceptions
this is what the uk law says on a speeding ticket
You should receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution/Section 172 requirement (which asks you to name the driver at the time of the offence) though within seven days of the time the film is downloaded, if it an unmanned camera. This however can be anything up to a month after your offence took place. If there were people manning the camera then you should receive the above within seven days. This is also dependant that your name and address is on the registration documents. If not it could take a good while. Please Read Carefully!

Pay up. It's not the worth the hastle. They've closed all loopholes about not receiving notification etc. I tried it and was dragged throught he courts three times and still shafted. I used the shit photo excuse also but represented myself and was found guilty. If I'd used a lawyer I would have got away with it but it would have cost me more in lawyers fees.

All legal mate you could get away 100% providing you can prove you were not the driver on the wheel!!!
Just send them a dog photo and driving licence and tell the authorities this dog walked in my house took the keys from the door and drove the car for 10 minutes then he left the car abandon on my street.

This driving dog passed his test
Two New Zealand rescue dogs didn't melt under the pressure of live TV and successfully passed their driving test on Monday, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

this is the uk law and you have to name the driver if it was not you
or you take the ticket, now ask do you have a answer to dispute the offence
What will happen if you are caught speeding
You have 28 days to respond to a speeding fine If a car is seen speeding, the registered keeper will receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) detailing the offence, and a document called a Section 172 notice. You must respond within 28 days, using the Section 172 notice to nominate the person who was driving at the time of the alleged speeding offence. Not doing so is a separate, specific offence which could lead to a fine and penalty points being added to your driving licence. If you were stopped by the police for speeding, the officer can give you a verbal warning of prosecution instead. An NIP is not required if the offence happened as part of a road traffic accident.
How long the police have to issue a speeding notice
The police must serve an NIP within 14 days of the alleged speeding offence, but there are some circumstances in which the notice will still stand even if it's served later than this, for example: if extra time is needed for the police to act with 'reasonable diligence' to find out who the registered keeper is and how to contact them; or if the delay was the driver?s fault, for example because they have not told the DVLA of a recent change of address.
If you receive a speeding ticket
With most minor speeding offences, when you return the NIP, you'll receive a Conditional Offer of a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN). You can choose either to pay this and accept the penalty points or, if you don't think the speeding ticket is correct, contest the speeding charge in court.
When deciding whether to contest a speeding charge, you should bear in mind that, in court, the prosecution?s role is simply to prove that a driver was speeding. Defences such as you did not intend to speed, didn't know you were speeding or you only exceeded the speed limit for a short time will not be taken into consideration. If the police prosecute you for speeding
If you already have more than eight points on your licence, or if you were travelling way above the speed limit, the police may choose to prosecute you in court. In this case, you will be sent a court summons.
The police have up to six months from the date of the offence to start speeding court proceedings. Please Read Carefully!

There are dual carriageways where I live that have 30mph speed limits and they are not in residential areas !
No doubt the same in many other towns.
Anyhow, the grievance Jordigirl has is that she did not receive the speeding ticket before the final request prior to court summons, yet another example of incompetancy from the system.Comment

Law is the law, why she should pay when prosecutor has made a cookup!!! If she was over the time limit she would have lost the case it goes both ways.
