i'm not into course fishing, i prefer trout, salmon and grayling fishing on rivers.
but i asked a mate who's quite into it, and he said for your money a 12ft Wychood Rapier is a good rod..

A 12ft rod*. you could stay at home and 'go' fishing.

          * I suppose it is a bit like Pumpy in the morning.

              Evers,
I use a maver n25, around the same price range, for river fishing on the Trent but mainly commy carp fishing, and it is a good strong pole, fairly easy to use at it's full length of 14.5 metres. I don't know the tks 40 but it seems to have some real fans. If I was spending that amount of money I would make sure I visited enough tackle shops to see what's on offer and have a waggle in the shop to see which suits you best.
