I was expecting to get slated for starting this thread. Guess I was wrong.

I posed the same arguement to a friend (not a DK member, just for Meaty's records). He put it down to character building.

Peer pressure was mentioned, I personally came under loads of cr@p at school in relation to smoking. Nearly all my friends smoked. I never have. I'd long since vowed never to turn out like my dad.... I failed.. but I can still say I stood my ground & never let anyone pressure me into doing something I didn't want to do.

My younger brother is 15, my partners youngest is 12. Both have come under peer pressure & both have had weak mental fortitude. Yet at the same time, both have came out of it stronger. My brother can now stand up for himself & argue his point...not always a good thing when he's arguing with a teacher.
But the 12 year old started the 6 week holidays well... a chav bully in his year, and far bigger than him, head butted him in a park. After putting his hair back into place he proceeded to kick the living sh!t out of the chav. Hit him so hard towards the end that he broke a knuckle. What a difference it's made to his self confidence. I pitty the fool that has a go at him next time. He's got about 7 months of martial arts training behind him that he now knows works & I've explained the beauty of using elbows, knees, pressure points & wrist locks to limit damaging himself.

Yet even in their weaker states they both knew that anything said online would never be said to their faces.

Personally I'd have no problem going back twenty odd years to live my teenage today. Nothing has changed in the real world, it's just the non reality reality tv that's the problem. Now, everything has to be a drama. And to those in bubble wrap... everything is a drama.
