    Mattresses And Back Problems.

Do you think what kind of mattress you have on your bed has any effect on your back???? ie causing back pain or relieving back pain.

    That is all.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I do not know the answer.

We got a new bed and mattress nearly 2 years ago and since then my back has hurt everyday. I'm convinced its the mattress thats causing the probs.

Ive had physio on it and it eased it for a short time but it soon comes back.

The mattress is one of these memory foam things.

        yeah mattresses do cause it.

A quick fix is traction. stand back to back with someone roughly your own hight.
lock arms together at the elbows.
Let the guy behind you bend over and you just hang loose stretching your spine out and reseting the curve.

i got a new bed at one point that was really bad, made me toss and turn all night and i kept hitting the wall whilst rolling about.

used to wake up with my knees and elbows black and blue desperately trying to figure out how a truck ran me over in my sleep.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

Definatly, I would say out of many of the homely stuff you buy, an expensive mattress should be at the very top of the tree. We bought an expensive memorary foam thingy it were bloody expensive but well worth what we paid for it.

Chroma the line.. "Just let the guy bend you over and hang loose...." has just had me in stitches in a very childish way

This mattress weve got now is a memory foam one.
I know they say they are good for people with back trouble but not for me, infact i'm sure its this mattress that's causing mine.

Some time ago I did a full week sleeping in my daughters bed, after a few days me back pain went, she's got a normal sprung mattress.
Also the 3 nights spent in London on a rock hard mattress, guess what....no pain.

I'm guessing on the memory foam mattress i'm just not laid correctly (for me), me spine and back must me out of line or summat.

Pends on the memorary foam, when we were shopping there were about 5 or 6 differently type ones, without googling them i wouldnt remeber but it were due to the spring in them and how they moved there were different ones for the different troubles, some ar emore supseptable for posture than others you may have the wrong type for you,
Especially if the "normal" beds make your back ok....

I had back probs and a mattress i though that was not helping, we changed the mattress to Sealy posturepaedic job and have had no further probs like that... It was not cheap, i think i was about ?750 but has been worth every penny..

A memory mattress is no good unless you are laying correctly in the first place. Once you have had some advice on what position you should sleep in to suit your back trouble, then the memory mattress, I should imagine, will be brilliant.

                          Thanks again for your advice.
Think i'm going to have to bite the bullet and revert back to a traditional mattress.
Its annoying because we havnt had this foam mattress long, and what can yer do with em, they're hard to sell, who wants a second hand mattress???

Anyhoo's, next weekend me n Mrs P will have to do some serious bed testing in the local shops.
