Im not entirely certain but i think it has to be a company spark that reconnects you to the grid, otherwise you'll find yourself in hot water.
As far as i know electricians can only dabble with internal wiring thats already past the meter and circuit breakers. Anything below that belongs to whichever company that supplies the utility, the same as telephones, you can wite up extensions but you cant rewire the drop cable. He who laughs last thinks slowest. -
you will need the elec company to reconnet you as they will have pulled the fuses at there end or at best the main incoming fuse at your end which has a seal on it tempering with this will put in big troubleIf you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mineComment

It's not worth touching it mate. If they think you are tampering with it they have immediate right of entry onto your premises. If they think, and they will, that someone is likely to be harmed by the meter being tampered with they have immediate right of entry. No warrant required!I can't wake up Grumpy now in case I am accused of DwarfismComment

They would of removed the cartridge fuse from the "series 7" cut-out located at the incoming mains location at your property. Then they will refit the "empty" fuse carrier and reseal it with meter sealing wire & ferrules. The crimpers what they use will also leave a imprinted number on the seal to identify the engineer who sealed the fuse carrier. So when you electric is reconnected by them, they check to see if the original seal is in place when you were disconnected. So if the number on the seal is not the same they will launch a investigation as each engineer has their own unique number on their crimpers...Apart from hiring a big generator, there is not much chance of getting around it unless you want to get caught eventually...Comment

THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

you need to get a sparky to do anything on your lekky thesedays since 17th edition regs came out... no certificate means your house insurance will not pay out if something happens that 'could' possible be linked to it...you will need to get it certificated in order to sell the house in the future..
BTW I am not a sparky trying to drum up business, am just talking from experience having required leccy work done on my house this year..Comment

if you can get hold of an old drum of red and black twin and earth 2.5mm and 1mm you can get away with saying it was done before the regs changed.then basicly you need to break into a live feed to a socket near your attic you will see 2 cables going to the socket (this is calle a ring main)
then you need to join one of these cables(2.5mm) with a 32A juntion box and run it to the first socket you put in the 1 cable to next socket and so on till the last scoket.then from there to the orginal socket you broke into and that would extend your ring main be sure to use green and yellow sleaving on the bare copper condutor(the earth)and earth the back box of each socket as well as the scocket its selfIf you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mineComment
