    Home Alarm Advice Needed

    Hi folks,

Moved into a new house and want to get a home alarm fitted. I am after advice, what would be the best option:
    • Get it a monitored service from leading providers
    • Get a DIY kit and do it myself

Also wondering what ones are best, the wired or the wireless ones. Please give your thoughts guys haven't really had an alarm before.

    Thanks in advance

Get a wired monitoring is good if you can afford it you can get a system that sends you a text if activated and even let's you view cctv cameras if fitted cheaper in the long run.

Lol.. I love dogs.. just too lazy for the walks..

I'm swayed at the wired ones too and monitoring ones have some ridiculous charges

Put your postbox at the gate instead of your letterbox in door the dog will chase the postman every day, dog exercising problem solved?
House breakers will solve the feed bit if you get any
A hungry dog is definitely the best alarm system!

              1) brick the windows and doors up.

              2) install burglar bars and razor wire

                  Okay I give in
DIY route is the best, save some money and get a service that works and you know how to put right if it has a fault.
IMO Monitored service your just shelling out money for the low paid operative to be asleep (passes your detail to a buddy for a commission) whilst the Bosses make a nice profit

                    Cheers mate.. very useful info..

Looking at some kits online.. seen the Yale ones which look decent. Ones with CCTV camera and smartphone app are good too so see what I end up with

Yale is a good reputed name product "made in China" like every thing else
the kits appear good value, look out for special offers on some sites if you can wait?

Try looking at pyronix home wired kits and maybe if needed an hd camera system with smartphone capability.

agree DIY and a wired setup. Can't say it's something I have done myself but have been looking in to it as plan on getting a new property back home and the idea of being able to watch in on the property remotely and be alerted if anything is triggered is appealing working away from home. Wired setup may be a bit more work but will provide a more stable connection.

Just a suggestion but may be useful if a mod/ admin added this thread to the Home & Garden forum.

Looks like it could be a promising thread

Forget the monitored providers. Get a professionally fitted Pyronix Enforcer. Its wireless and it can be hooked up to send you a text when it activates.
