Mine was a 16k ZX Spectrum 9 years of age. I persuaded my mum to take it back to WHSmiths and exchange for the 48k model ....obviously had to pay the difference. Later 1989 I got the amiga Batman Pack and was gobsmacked how good the graphics were. Getting games from school mates copying with xcopy...great days

Like so many others on here, I started of with Sinclair ZX81. The preceeding ZX80 was self build job and at about ?64 if I recall correctly. There must be a lot of old people on here to have started off with these ZX81'S--- he says !!!. So we all have something to thank Clive Sinclair for. I still have a ZX81 laying about somewhere. After the ZX81 I bought a Toshiba HX10 an MSX machine, and then bought an Amstrad PC1640 with a mind blowing 20MB hard drive. How sad I will not be alive in 50 years time to see the future of computers.

hORRAY so did I and there was me beginning to think I was the only one that start with a decent piece of kit.
                Proper keyboard and well made.
The sinclair's were good computers, poor construction

                              This is what I had.
Commodore 64 with casette deck, disk drive and a printer.
This was installed on a drinks trolley so my father rolled it out when I was "good" and let me play for an hour. He had a cardboard paper with hand written instruction on how to connect it and load a game.

I kinda miss this stuff now when I see it.
                              Those were the days...

This is a joystick that I used.
I used to buy one every month. The were durable,
but not enuff to survive being slamed into the floor.

After a while some new joysticks arrived and they had a "click", a microswitch for every button and direction. We called them "digital joystick" hahahahaha. kids...

                              Damn,
this thread is going to make me cry.
Somehow I feel that the stuff back in the days had some kind of magic to it.
