Well you are in the right place for nightlife and shopping, and for days out get the DART, the station Tara St, or Pearse St, is about 5/10 mins walk from Temple Bar - southside to see Bono's house, just get off at Dalkey or Killiney and get the directions from google Earth, he lives on Vico Road, at the South end of it, Howth is northside on the DART, make sure you get the Howth train, not the Malahide one.

To be honest i'd leave Cork or any sightseeing down the country until another time, you'd be better doing that in the spring/summer and taking a car across on the carferry. If you are only here for four days, you'll easily pass them in Dublin.

You have a good chance of seeing Larry Mullen out and about in Howth as well, he drinks there regularly:

No Prob Lainie. The Dart ( the train ) I refered to will take you to Killiney. A bit of a walk to where he lives and you won't see much 'cause it's walled in, but a lovely area to stroll around. They call it "little italy ". From Temple Bar your about 5 mins from Tara Street Station where you can catch The Dart.

Sorry Eva, we seem to be overlapping here

Larry drinks in Howth yaught Club most weekends he's home

Ooops Eva, I forgot that I can just walk in. Had a few meals there and met him. His partners brother works with me. The summit is probably the best bet but hard to get to. Is there a bus from Sutton ???

I'm not sure, think there might be one from Howth Dart Station. That's not a bad walk anyway if it's dry, up through the village to the summit.
