    traction in snow

Here is a tip from Norway, clean you drive axle tyres with engine degreaser, just spray them with degreaser leave a couple of minutes then wash it off or spin wheels in fresh snow, you will be amazed at the grip you then get from your tyers. It does work

does this damage the tyre rubber, not keen on shortening the life on my tyres as they weren't cheap...? wish i could switch the traction control off to spin the ~~~~ers as well...

if its petroleum based i would be worried as in rotting rubber,a good hose down afterwards needed as you dont leave it on too long.

Got out of bed 6.00am Tuesday , popped my head out of the door , every car 18-20cm deep in snow , attempted to drive my 12 mile journey to work , but within 1/4 mile saw 2 cars buried into each other and thought , stuff that ! , turned around , went home and took the dogs out for a 2hr walk through a local woods , Lovely !.
The police are still saying drive in emergencies only , so until they say otherwise i'm doing just that !
Far nicer having a dog walk in a winter wonderland ,than mangling your car !

its a facelift signum elite turbo. have looked into it and it seems that its a common issue..

i have a can of Lidl engine cleaner hanging about , an curious about trying this 2moro morn.. but am worried about trashing my new Sessantas.. In norway they use studded winter tyres anyway don't they... I only need to get to the motorway about 2 miles away and it will be clear (i hope)... if i don't get it then like may others i can't invoice for the day and i kinda need the dosh as my CT is due to be paid at the end of the month...

another tip have a battery/cigar lighter tyre guage pump in car ,some people deflate tyres down to 20 psi which gives more tyre contact to road for more grip.

i just use bleach on my tires in the winter to remove all ice, snow, gunk and oil.

well i tried that engine degreaser trick this morning, am not sure if it helped as i had nothing to compare it against, but i managed to get into work anyway.. i guess anything that helps is worth a go..
