Agree with DJSimo on the power stations, which becomes 3 times more inefficent.
The word on the street is that around the Toyota Factory is the USA the land is so contaminated with poison, people from NASA dress up as space men/women and pretend they are on the moon (sad bastards).
Oh off topic, but on 2010 model Toyota Prius which is a good road tax bracket
if you remove the radio, which is very easy to do, you get a warning message on the dashboard saying "Check Hybrid System"
(Thanks to Digital Kaos weeks before) simply start and stop 3 times to clear the fault

I think that even if we all change to Electric cars the government will still end up putting a stealth tax on the electricity we use.
Coz it's the only way them muppets know how to get the billions of ????'s tax back that they overspend.

Another major factor that everone seems to be forgetting is that oil is traded in US$. Over the past year the ? has fallen in value by a quarter compared to the dollar. This will also account for a significant portion of the price increase.there not going to change that in a recession . but the main petrol companies have to be making more because the price has increased and the vat hasnt plus the oil price is dropping ,, someone's making the extra money
Production up
Though profits were down, the company told us that its oil and gas production increased by more than 4% during the year, and BP had "continued its industry-leading 17-year run of increasing reserves." That growth in production was ahead of the company's expected long-term rate of 1-2%, being boosted partly by new projects.
While profits may be down this year on the back of falling oil prices, the company's production ostensibly looks to be in good shape for any rising future demand, even if production in 2010 is expected to be a little below last year's due to the boost given by the absence of a significant 2009 hurricane season.
However, is that rising future demand really going to materialise, and what will its potential profit margins look like? Crucially, as well as absolute oil prices being lower, refining margins have been falling too.
Correct. According to the Association of British Drivers the government rakes in over $45billion a year in taxes and spends less than a 7th of that on maintaining the road network. The money is there but the spend it on other things. Then they have the audacity to try and introduce a Congestion Charge in Manchester to pay for public transport "improvements" telling us the moeny has to come from "somewhere"Comment

Needs more HYDROGEN up in this bitch.
Fuel cells are getting cheaper, manufacturing hydrogen is simple, a few solar panels, some water a converter, storage tank and voila free fuel.
The only waste product from converting water to hydrogen is Oxygen (which will wind up healing the Ozone and balancing out the increase in carbon emissions already present in the atmosphere) and spent converters every few decades.
The conversion of hydrogen into electricity = electricity + H?O
So instead of smoke you get small clean puddles of pure water.
Free almost silent power and no emmissions? whats to think about?
The cost used to be extreme because the catalists needed a stack of platnum, paladium, gold and other rare and precious metals, now it can be done with a handful of Indium Phosphide and some rust and a little sulphur, all readily available in MASSIVE quantities, cost is no longer a barrier.
The only expense is the initial investment into the gear to make the hydrogen, convert it back into electricity and maintainance, after that its free!
The cops got wise to people using "cheery" round here firestorm they started spot checking motors and handing out points and fines

But using cherry is not a motoring offence, all the police can do is report you to HMCS who will take you to court for tax evasion and seize your vehicle but the police cannot hand out fines or points for it.Comment

Nice to see this old chestnut doing the rouds again. Sadly it won't work.
I work on a refinery which is owned by one of the smaller brands and in this current climate we're making a loss on road fuels but keeping afloat on lesser taxed distillates (Jet Kero, Light Gas Oil, Heavy fuel oils etc).
Everyone sees the 1.10 or more a litre and immediately blames the refinery for the extortionate charges although here's an actual cost breakdown on litre of fuel priced at 1.10:
Refinery Charge per litre: 30.95p
Delivery / Retailer Charge: 8.34p
Government Fuel Duty: 56.19p
Then of course there's VAT at the end: VAT: 14.33p
Now did you spot the double whammy in that lot above?
we're actually paying VAT on the Gov't fuel duty! That's right we're taxed on the tax. Priceless isn't it!
So no it's not really the fault of the refinery as I am sure you wouldn't mind paying 50p or so a litre - I know I wouldn't mind that.
This one goes right back and sits squarely at the doot of No. 10 Downing Street.
