    Caravan attracts 'travellers'

What's the scam? is there one? or am I paranoid?

I have a caravan parked out the front of my house. This year I have had at least 6 sets of people, with the same, 'travellers' accents, asking if I wanna sell it?
All different excuses, last one was I need one for me and my mates to go fishing, but there has been numerous similar 'excuses'.

My instincts tell me to steer clear, but am I just being paranoid?
Wondered if anyone else has had bad dealings? or good for that matter.

It's got a hitchlock on, and a homemade wheel clamp thing, but not locked, coz its a pig to put padlock on it. Just for show really, you can't see if there a padlock on or not. I might fettle it up a bit, and do it proper.
Thing is there are better caravans around, mine aint that fancy, although it is quite big.

          wold e sorry keyboard a.gain

would be inclined to fit a Taercok grr www.tracker.co.uk on it, keyboard works best with receiver on top of it.

on a permant charge, in such a way if some gypo cuts the main power off to nick it, causes an alarm to sound.

get an 12 volt emergency light' kit, and remove bulb, fit siren .
make it flash the caravan lights., Funky

just hope you dont get a power cut.

also put some kind of 'lock' on the 12n/12s sockets

Word on street it is that gypos use a 'clamp' that goes over your towing thingy.

See if you can get some thick fabricator to make a 'mini green house frame' and weld it to the A bit, to stop some gypo using their gear to whip it away.

BUT if it goes, claim off the insurance and use the money to fund finding a fix for N3, think of the fuel saved /year, think of the envitroment saved not slowing the traffic.

guess they knocked on door to see if you are in or not!

Some cracking bits of advice there.. excellent, Thats how they get past the hitchlock then, crafty buggers.

The Emergency light/alarm is a very good idea too, I have a spare in the garage I found somewhere.

You might be right about seeing if I am in or not. My missus has experienced them to, they even said to her 'Well it hasn't moved in a while'. when she refused to sell it.
How do they know it hasn't moved in a while?

cheers for that meathead. And get a wired keyboard!

we've got a iveco trucks sales showroom by my house
the pikeys hit it one night and chopped the cats of each truck, id say ther wer around 50 of em (cats that is) and each one worth ????s they made a tidy profit

point is if they gt balls 2 pull off something like that, a carvan is a piece of cake 2 them

They pretend to be interested in your van, while eyeing up your attempts at securing the van. They then know what tools to bring and it will be away!!!!

Ive seen a caravan taken with unbelievable security. owner said no-one can steal this van as they would have to remove a large hedge and pull the van over a large ditch to take it!!!

A week later, thieves removed the nieghbours fence to use as a bridge for the ditch, sawed the hedge down and took the caravan.........WTF, gone in a few minutes and no-one saw a thing!!! Got to hand it to them for ingenuity!!!

Caravan owner adamant he didnt need a tracker fitting to his van due to the fact that no-one could get access..........then a couple of weeks later............Bye Bye!

We have a boat in our front garden, it has a number of locks on the trailer, would be pretty hard to steal.

We also have a motion sensor video camera, and on a number of occasions have taped members of the travelling community coming into the driveway when nobody is home and looking all around the boat, unaware that they were being taped.

There have been a number of instances locally recently where the engines that are locked onto boats have been cut out of the boat, maybe they have seen my video camera after all ........

These scumbags will jack your arse up and rob your shoes , before you know what's happened ! . I lost my last business due these low lifes .
I rented floor space from a foundry , then illegal travellers pitched up on land to the rear . They weren't evicted and in the space of a year , i was broken into over 20 times.

My insurers would no longer cover me , despite my security efforts ( i even considered wiring the metal doors to the mains ). And after my van being stolen i finally gave up , that same evening , the foundry had 12 tonne of iron ingots delivered for their furnace and that went too !

These b*stards should be gassed at birth !!

Police and VOSA stopped some travellers around here due to Transit looking over weight.

However they quickly stopped their spot check due to finding a suspicious object in the Transit!!!!!
