There is a traveling fair that comes our way once a year or so. I do a wee bit of work for them now and again if they get stuck and have to admit i had your views and tarred them all the same but these guys are spot on. Pay in cash, free tickets for the kids and never a spot of bother when they are in town.

You may be confusing gypsies with tinkers/travellers/knackers/pikies and most of what I`ve seen so far in this thread does not refer to gypsies. The latter are a clannish, devious, dangerous and some times deadly gang to encounter and always on the lookout for what`s only partly nailed down. Yes, they watch stationary objects like caravans, vans and cars etc. and yes, the call to the door was to see about occupants, security etc.

Another ~~~~er with his flatback tranny today, van that is, not a he/she.
This time they want to trim my hedges ?75! As well as offering to buy the caravan.
Might sell the bugger anyway, was mainly used for my digs when I was down in London, don't use it that often now.

You might as well, just put a LCD TV in the front window of said caravan
with a DVD playing this, day and night.

Another member that seems to re-name me.

If they want it, they will take it, even if they have to wait for Cliff Richard to take you on a Summer hoillday,

Then just as you are about to hitch it to your Shitroen, they get Van Halon (or other poinouis gas) and Jump on you.

Never trust travellers, they all have loads of money for 1 reason. Because they rip everyone off.

from my view with years dealing with the ****ers the only good knacker is a DEAD one they would rob the eyes out of the back of your head and comes back later for your eye lashes

You'll always get the exception to the rule Mate , but thier track record where i live , speaks for itself .
From dodgey extortionate building / garden maintenance work for elderly people they know are vunerable , to plain theft of anything that isn't bolted down . They cause fear and misery wherever they pitch themselves , trash and sh*t all over the place wherever they go (women and children included) .
The last clean up in our area was 2 football fields , at a cost to ratepayers of ?10k , don't think i have to tell you how much they contributed to this . I stand by what i said at the start of this thread , i could write you a book !

for several days + skip hire?

Aye dead right Meaty. probably 2 apprentices, but with 8 essential office staff to make reports, and sharpen the pencils of the staff writing the reports.
And then the skip hire companies wouldn't be the cheapest. Just the skip hire company that provides the biggest brown envelope at xmas.

But I take melloned comments on board, why the ~~~~ should we the taxpayer have to fork out? whatever the true cost of the clean up. I have seen some illegal sites, ~~~~ing shite holes, piles of junk, burning fires burning plastic off cable.
Our sofltly softly coppers will do ~~~~ all. Should sundy bloody sunday them.

They don't use the hitch to tow it away they have a short scaffold pipe with a bar welded to it and a hitch on the other end, thet slacken the jockey wheel clamp and remove it putting the scaf pole in place of it and then tighten the clamp, hitch up and offfff

Ahh thank you, it was just the word on the street.

Would be cool to have an odd ball shaped jockey wheel

Run a dehumidifier for a couple of days before you selling a caravan, sounds more solid when the 'buyer' starts to knock on the walls looking for damp spots.
