Getting DTV with freeview built in TV

    Hi,

I got a LG M227WD which doubles as a pc monitor and TV. It has freeview built in it. When I use the channel scan function, all I get is the normal 5 channels available to UK viewers. Where are the freeview channels? I noted that during scanning it does show a black screen in UHF range listing the channels but not saving it. I don't see any kind of reception in those UHF range as well. Maybe I have to wait until mid-august so that the entire UK goes digital? Or maybe this is an aerial problem?

I would expect that it also has an analogue tuner and you are picking up the analogue channels.

press the input button on your remote and it will either toggle through your inputs or bring up a drop down list (I would expect to see things like AV1 & 2, HDMI, TV and maybe DTV)

I would expect TV to be analogue TV and DTV to be digital TV. Select DTV (or whatever it's listed as on your TV, should be something obvious) and you will probably have to scan again for digital channels. Let me know how you get on.

The monitor detects both digital and analogue automatically. So it is not really the case of could not find the channel. It goes from analogue to DTV but no DTV picked up.

check your postcode on this site to make sure you can receive digital ftreeview channels.
this will give you a list of what's available in your area..

Thanks, that helped a lot. All channesl available after switchover which is mid-August.

I have no idea what kind of aerial is in place. I just plug the tv into the aerial socket in the wall. I am guessing its a shared ariel.

chances are m8 you have a normal ariel on your roof, you will need a digital ariel putting up to get all the channels, and more than likely you could get them all now if you had one.

Yea, I live in a 3 story flat. Well, when the time comes and if the people in here care, then it will change. If not, I'll just view my tv online or get an indoor aerial from argos.

compare your ariel to these ----> digital ariels - Google Search
if it aint like most of the pics you will need a new ariel.

you might be using a communal areil system not set up for digital.
