Would like to say a massive thanks to everyone on dk who have helped and supported me on the Great North Run

I completed the course in a respectable if not very good time of 1h 57m 26s which after a few problems in the run up which affected me i was quite pleased with

the time is on here and there are also picture kicking about somewhere although they are pretty poor (race no 22033)

      Race Results

i must say that on saturday and sunday morning pre race i waas wondering why i was doing it i was pi55ed off and id had enough

that however all changed when i got there and got into the atmosphere of the place.

after walking nearly 2 mile we got to the start and waited to go it took almost 20 mins to get to the start line then after high fiving ant i was away and enjoying the day out

until half way then i stopped for a sneaky pi55 near a bush and i couldnt get going again the 7-10 mile stretch was a battle in which i thought about stopping a few times until i got to south shields where the people were amazing

after taking on some jelly babies and ice pops from people on the street cheering and high fiving a million kids i found a new lease of life and was boosted through to the finish it all seemed easy in the end thanks mainly to the people of south shields making the last bit of the race special

this was a first for me the first time i have done anything really and i found it quite surreal and i would recommend it to anyone its a great experience

Thanks to evryone on DK who has donated and sponsored me it means a lot and im sorry if i upset anyone.

I didnt mean to rub up anyone the wrong way and if me badgering you for sponsor money has effected you i apologise.

But i fail to see how you can raise money on line without asking, i know i can badger people in the SB for cash but these are only people who i consider friends on DK and if im calling someone a greedy ~~~~er or similar its toungue n cheek banter the same as we all use at work, home and pub with our real life friends

we get asked for money in shops, the street, adverts on tv,people dressing up for children in need ect they all want cash and they all ask they dont make any money by keeping quiet i would have been lucky to get any money at all without asking in the sb or bumping my post

as for using the (your name) in thread i just thought it was a good way of attracting attention and it worked donations were through the roof so i am glad but also anyone who felt bullied im sorry but its for a good cause if it makes you feel better

and as for the people who would have donated but felt like they were pushed and are taking a moral high ground why didnt they donate before when it was just a thread after all DK is largely a site that evolved through robbing cable companies and getting free software or do we only use morals that suit us?

Once again thanks for helping great cause you have raised almost ?360 just on DK and i have made almost ?900 altogether it will all help children and adults get decent care and well looked after in there last days i am very pleased

also thanks to the people of newcastle and south shields for making it a great day out and a memorable experience i think i will run again next year

      dont all groan

your not wrong m8 i had a massage straight after the race in the charity tent then i waited 3 1/2 ~~~~in hours for the wife and wifes brothers missus to pick us up they were shopping in the metrocentre the ~~~~in slutbags didnt even set off till after id finished the race to pick us up (they were supposed to be at the finish when we finished)

apparantly they didnt think we'd start the race till about 11.30 by the time the que's died down and id be finished at about 1.30, so they decided to leave the metrocentre about 1.15 and that the journey would only take 10 mins despite half of newcastle and south shields being shut and around half a million people in the streets

lets just say after finishing at 1pm a freezing cold mr red (she also had warm clothes in car) did not get picked up till 4.30pm mr red was not very amused but the butterwick women looked after me so thanks to them

in that time i didnt sit down once because i knew i wouldnt get back up after the journey home i limped from the car like john wayne i couldnt ~~~~in walk, mrs red had two ~~~~in black eyes

Belated congratulations red on your achievements, in the plural for not only the cash you raised but for the personal achievement in doing the run yourself.
I`m sorry about the lash up when I donated but the money went straight to the Hospice(because ye wouldn`t join the euro).
Give yourself a slap on the back. Brilliant. Well done red.
