I lost my mother when i was 15 so happy to donate, but I do agree with racin-snake it is a little much to see your name pop up like that.

Same with me. I didn't realise the names changed and thought it was aimed at me.
Felt a bit awkward to be honest. Like being bullied into donating because if I didn't then the rest of the forum would see I hadn't.

i too have lost my father to lung cancer in 1978 ( i was 8 years old )
so know all too well what this devastating illness can do my friend
i regularly give to Marie Curie as do the rest of my family
and do not appreciate being shotgunned into making any type of charitable gifts in this way
if i want to give i would do it silently
as you are giving not for any reward but just to help with a cause
and will do so with anonymity thanking you
not being selfish but if its charity its without any pressure
you have not been shotgunned it is up to you what you do
its just a way of making people aware everyones name pops up in the thread and tbh i wish id done it sooner because i have had loads of replies and donations since i done it

as of just reading this thread has had 400+ views and 20 something replies and 11 donations so only around 2.5% have donated compared to number of views
you had a choice and i am pleased you gave so thanks for that
