this is the one i got dont think it has that it mentions it has protective ferrite cores dont no if that is similar to what you mention

But it doesn't always work with my wi-fi dongle. There were listings for USB repeater cables with similar tube blocks to those on your cable. They do look like ferrite rings, but could be a repeater & a ferrite ring.
