I managed to haggle with vodafone today for a sim only deal for my son
ended up getting 900 mins..unlimited text..unlimited internet
all for ?15 per month on a 12 month deal
I think this is a pretty good deal
what do you all think?

subject to a "fair use policy"
whatever that means
but its definately not capped below a gig
I was told no limit subject to fair usage

really I should have told them I was recording the conversation ....but they did say before I got put through that the call may be recorded for training purposes

so I put the call on speaker and recorded the call with my daughters phone

Talking of Insurance misquotes. I remember once I made a claim on my car insurance. The girl on the phone told me I'd get no more than ?2500, I argued with her until blue in the face but she was adamant that my car was scrap and worth very little. I refused her quote and demanded an independent inspection, when the fella came to assess my car, he wrote me out a cheque for 4 grand.

its the unlimited net part of the deal i would be wary about,and the "fair usage policy" this normally means anything over a gig and that is normal policy for a contract deal with the big 4 which i have now managed to exceed a few times and have been caned for charges,,sometimes as much as the monthly rental,,the rest of the deal seems a bit too good to be true for a sim only,,but if you have recorded it then i suppose they are bang to rights

when i contacted them they said i went over my 500mb allowance , thats why the extra ?5 charge.

there is not a thing you can do about it either, i tried everything, and only way out was to buy out the contract.

They have now upped my 500mb to 1gig , the wording " fair usage policy " is where they got you by the bollocks.

you will get a text from them when you are close to your 500mb to save you going over and be charged.

just to add that i have just gone over my net usage and have spent ?34 on top of ?30 a month contract,just got off the phone to three and they have now changed my contract on iphone4 to ?35 a month but i have now got unlimited internet with no fair use policy,,its a new 3 contract called the one plan eat as much data as you like plus as a goodwill gesture they just knocked ?10 off my next bill
apparently they are the only provider at the moment who have started a no limit on data contract with no hidden clauses

A little earlier in the year all the networks limited their data access. Most were set between 500MB & 1GB, depending on if you were paying extra or getting it free.

I guess '3' are the first to U-turn on this as it is a load of balls for the customer. Give it 6 months & they'll bring in a new cap or fair use policy. Grab it while you can.
