thats what vodaphone did to me, when i signed there was no fair usage policy.
when i complained they knocked ?25 of my next bill and upped from 500mb to 1gig.

?5 was knocked off for the internet charge ( going over 500mb ))
?20 was knocked off, because i keep complaining about the poor signal.

so its best to complain , shy bairns get nowt

If I can give the people one piece of advice on complaining, it's this....

No matter how pissed off you get, don't scream & shout down the phone at the adviser.
You can argue your point without raising your voice. I've worked in a few call centres, including Orange. If someone came through to me screaming, shouting or just demanding something...They didn't get ~~~~ all from me, I'd run by the rule book, no good will gesture just to shut them up.

As far as introducing a lower fair usage policy after you join. I would look to terminating the contract based on the miss-selling or changes to the contract that's detriment to your designed use of the phone.

I left my '3' contract early with no penalties when they removed their 3mail email service. Their Indian advisers were telling me I would be liable for the remaining time on the contract, no matter how many times I quoted their own terms & conditions to them. But my final bill was just under ?30 with my one months notice of termination.
Most call centre staff don't know the law surrounding their actions & obligations. They only know what they have been told to say from lower management...who are even worse at understanding the law.

I think someone should test this unlimited fiasco in a small claims court. If there is a limit, they should say what it is.
