Desire is a much better phone than Wildfire mate. Mrs has got Wildfire and hates it, seems a wee bit too sensitive and in simple terms you can get more stuff on the Desire.

Wife loves the desire, I've had a play about with it and its great, only problem is battery life. Buts the same on all HTC's I hear. IT has to be charged every couple of days.

It's a great piece of kit though,

I find i can nearly double my desires battery life simply by turning the WIFI off. As for the wildfire, when i chose my desire i looked at both, trouble was the desires screen blew the wildfire out of the water and i just had to have it! the wildfire is smaller though if that is an issue.
Do you have any current contracts with vodafone? a friend recently got a stonking deal on a wildfire simply by ringing customer services. Apparently he did ring 3 times though until he found the rep who would offer the best deal (they apparently have some lee way in decision making), i guess, if at first you don't succeed........

The Wildfire is a midrange phone, the Desire is more towards the top end of the market.

Battery life is a problem with most smartphones, but with android you can shut down power hungry hardware & there's a monitor to show you what's been using the most power.

Both run Android so operate the same. The main difference is in the processing power of the Desire.

My choice would be to get her the Desire, it's just a better phone. If you can't get the deal you're looking for tell them you want to cancel the contract as you can get a better deal with someone else. They'll cave in quicker than a mineshaft in Chile.

The battery life problem is exactly how it sounds. Short battery life from a full charge. But if you can get 2 days out of it between charges you're doing really well.

Most smart phones need charging everyday.

Turning off the wi-fi, gps & 3G connection usually resolves any problems.
