also if someone gets high rate mobility money ie they get the money not the car they can still buy a tax disc for someone. my b/fs mum used to do it for him but she charged him ?100 for the tax disc!!! then i came on the scene and that soon stopped!!

This was a question I asked many years ago when I was involved with a dealership providing cars under the motability scheme. No joking, the customers would come running to collect the keys for their leased cars. Like most folks would do, I asked myself the question..'what's wrong with these people... thought they were meant to be disabled?

After making some enquires, it's turned out that the disabled person claiming the higher rate mobility allowance... doesn't need to drive. In fact, there's situations where a motability car can be claimed for a disabled child.

I don't even think MPs know how the scheme is meant to work... one Northern Ireland MP was reported as using his wife's motability car for his work. Most ordinary folks just use them to deliver take-aways. ::

As usual, the government don't have a clue how to weed out the scroungers so they take the hard line approach. This will only serve to cause problems for the genuine claimants as the scroungers will simply move elsewhere on the benefits system.

Maybe it's time we switched to a radical Nationalist party to end this, someone who is going to look after OUR interests first instead of cutting back on our essential services etc so they can throw even more good money away in foreign aid. Put the blame where it belongs

Some people have not worked since they left school, some of these people will retire having never done a days work.If that is how you think you will have no problem claiming any benefit you can lay your hands on.
It is also true that you will probably associate with like minded people ("I met this bloke down the job center and he said **********, i think i could claim that, he even told me what to do and say")

On the other hand,I believe that there will be many people who are not claiming though they are entitled (" I don't want to be a burden")

We as a society do not treat false claiming of benefit as theft, but that is exactly what it is.

What the present Government are doing is bang on but I would like to think that when they have ~~~~ed the 'false scrounger' off they will invest in finding the genuine cases, alas i fear not.
