Unfortunately this is one thing, unless you are an unknown person in the UK, that by law has to be completed and has done since it first started.
If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear plus it itemises those who should and those who should not be in the country.
It's time Britain was changed back to being Britain and not a free house for Illegal Immigrants.
I know we have lots of Cultures , Races and Religions legally in the country but at least this itemises this fact in a true manner if completed properly.Comment

Like everything else it goes to the highest bidder but what about the thousands of jobs being created to ensure the collecting and filling in of these forms is carried out correctly.
As for naive with the information the government has on you already from Driving Licences, Pasports, Credit Cards etc etc the privacy doesn't come into it.
I bet you are one of those who would vote to keep peadophiles names and locations away from public knowledge and like to live next to one with your kids etc.
At least this information will safeguard a lot of peolple as the government and the legal system will hopefully find the whereabouts of some people who need to be monitored but have slipped the system over years.
I've nothing to hide so nothing to fear worked for Government and Security so my details are known anyway.Comment

Nothing to hide, nothing to fear=brainwashed into the slippery slide to Fascism. Governments have proved for centuries they are entities not to be trusted with its populaces information (China, Russia, UK, US just a few who have previously abused that information) one of the worst and extreme examples was Nazi Germany where census data was used to target people for execution.
Governments do not need this amount of information and we are entitled to our privacy whether we have 'nothing to hide' or not.
