At least this information will safeguard a lot of peolple as the government and the legal system will hopefully find the whereabouts of some people who need to be monitored but have slipped the system over years.

The reason they have 'slipped the system' is because they don't report to the authorities. What makes you think they'll fill in a questionaire that goes to every government body, both here & in the US?

I have read through several threads on here about how bad the census is, and that we shouldn't fill it in,
but I am really struggling to see what's so bad about it,

where I live - this information is already on the electoral register

my age, sex, and marital status - information already known by the general register office

my employment - this information is already known by the inland revenue, and national insurance contributions agency, or the benefit agency

my religion - this is a voluntary question,

how many bedrooms are in my house - this information is either known by the local authority, or the land registry,

how many vehicles I own - information already known by DVLA

the condition of my health - this is a self assessment, so is up to you to decide the answer

do I hold a passport - information already known by the passport office,

so could someone tell me, what sensitive information I am divulging, because I'm buggered if I know.

i can see your point tshirt, but i think that the anti census people (me included) dont want to make life any easier for governments that have consistently shown that they dont give a sh1t about peoples rights or wants. if they already have this info, let em ~~~~ off and collate it themselves.

2. why should companies that have been involved in interrogation(torture?) be collating this information? in my opinion having anything to do with these companies including helping them gather intelligence by filling the form is wrong.
i certainly dont want my tax money being used to pay someone to abuse another human being.


the Nazis probably had access to the name of ever Jew in Germany too but im sure that 1937 census had all those name in a nice neat pile, no need for interdepartmental searches. if there were questions about health in it, i bet that it help their eugenics program along nicely too.

Maybe the government should use similar paranoia when dealing with some of the people that are happy enough to mess around with the information required on the Census. How's about when the ones that just put rubbish down wants some benefits make the Giro out to the wrong person (Mr D Duck). If they phone in for a Medical appoiintment send them to the local Supermarket etc.

Like it or not the Tax Payer is picking up the bill for this Census and all the information on it is already accessible although as has been highlighted it takes longer to pulll it all together. If it is in one place it will take less time to access and save the Tax Payer money.

I'm sure the type of people that have issues with it have never complained when people do a shi# job when they are paying for it.

im self employed and last year i made less than i would if i was on the dole, but the government can stick that up their @rse too. when i get sick i eat an aspirin, suck it up and go to work, no choice. and like it or not this paranoid person is a taxpayer

I could take the same route as cablefreejunkie with you use of the word scurrilous as I am NOT as the meaning of the word states Given to the use of vulgar, coarse, or abusive language; foul-mouthed or have expressed in vulgar or coarse manner anything in my post. As you will see if you read my resonse to cable it was probably just the use of the wrong word as in " you " which caused the situation and I have had the courtesy to apologise for that.

ok so if they already know all this why do we have to fill it in i bet its cost a few million already then you will have alll the people updating details ect to computers

and for something they all know already the only logical reason i can think of is to try and catch cheats you know all these single mums ect that pretend they live on their own when really they live with their kids dads

i need to post a reply as its me who started this thread after all,and what a good response its received,its quite obvious that we all have very very different views on it,obviously you all know my stance,im completely against lockheed martin colating(mispelling) information on every uk citizen which in turn is then(under the patriot act) available for FBI/CIA etc to sift through
