You can't claim a refund on tax unless there's more than 2 months remaining.
There's always a chance that the car will be fixed within that 7 weeks so you leave things as they are.

What happens then?

This is almost as bad as the 'plans' to introduce on the spot fines for not wearing a seatbelt & tail gating.
This was my issue on the other thread a few weeks back.

I pay my insurance for a full year and my tax for a full year, but stagger six months between them, so I pay my tax in February and my insurance in August.
I'm working again so its not as much of an issue but if I wasn't working in August then I doubt id have my renewal amount exactly on time so my motor would sit on my private drive untill i could afford to renew my insurance.
I wouldn't drive it, and because I'm going to renew the bloody thing I wouldn't SORN the thing either, it would just sit there till I had the money to get bent over and ~~~~ed by my insurance company for another year, could be anything from two weeks to a month before I got enough sheckels to get my motor back on the road.
Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but now I'm told if I don't either waste money with a SORN or buy instant ass rape from my insurance company I'll be hit with a fine and clamped or even cubed... WTF?

I'm not breaking any kind of law but I'm still going to get penalised? where's the justice in that?
I'm not breaking any kind of law but I'm still going to get penalised? where's the justice in that?
yup thats as close to the bone as it gets
the more info and computer data they have on you the farther they can tax (butt ~~~c ) you

we already are penalised for everything else
now they seem to think if we have the oppertunity to break the law we will?

if your car is on sorn then you are saying you wont drive it on a public road
so why do they need to have more draconian revenue making red tape ?

the law is already there
driving with no insurance is an offence
but it should be regulated by the government not the private sector
with room to hump us at every step of the way
driving with no tax will get you a fine plus car crushed too maybe
but if its not revenue and public safety then why the ~~~~ is it such a revenue maker like speed cameras and so on

all in all i don't mind paying but would think it easier on everyone if these places like dvla and insurance company's were not agency's but owned and regulated buy the government

as right now with fuel and insurance and tax ect ect
we are being humped by the back door using government quangos to rape the motorist

all in all they push the motorist harder with law than the do actual criminals ffs

while they feed and water child murderers and peados in jail
at our expense
we get it up the poop shoot for being law abiding and supposedly free ?

but ever since dvlc became dvla ...we have been raped by these barstewards

it needs sorted we already pay something like 53% of earnings to someone before we make a dime
its slavery with the illusion of being free

rant over but i hope you can see my point

Just thought that line needed to be highlighted. The problem is the Government does not respond to complaints, well not singular complaints anyway. Think it's about time people began to question the very fabric of our society. We're all being taken for a ride yet no one seems overly concerned.
Think we could all learn something from other countries around the world.
Don't let them forget who's in the majority, you pay their wages not the other way round.
Apologise for ranting but I'm fed up the more rubbish I am expected to digest by people who have no concept of the real world.

Only time our Govt will ever lesion is when we all get to gather and protest, for instant remember when we all protested over the poll tax they had to reverse the decision.
I still can not understand why we have to send them a sorn letter because it does not prove to any one that you are not going to break the law this is just another revenue. Legally I would understand that you only break the law when you get caught in Act, in the case of our Govt is telling us to declare that your car is off the road but you can still break the law by driving it, do you understand were I am getting into this argument. Why we have to tell our Govt what we suppose to do ahead of what?s going to happen to your every days of life?

"That no freeman ought to be taken, or imprisoned, or disseized of his freehold, liberties, or privileges, or outlawed, or exiled, or in any manner destroyed, or deprived of his life, liberty, or property, but by the judgment of his peers, or by the law of the land."

here is the quote from the Magna Carta that might be (in England )
the key to the way out of some of these taxes imposed as penalty's called on the spot fines
the Magna Carta states this so every time the fine comes in defend it in court
READ THE DOCUMENT IT IS NOT REPEALABLE SO STANDS TODAY AS COMMON LAW !

this covers common law not marine law which is basically corporate law (as i see it)

common law cannot be repealed so is in fact these laws contradict common law
you are a freeman of the land a thing they do not want you to understand !
