    Bring back death penalty

BBC News - E-petitions urge MPs to debate return of death penalty

The first e-petition has been released and it shows the most popular deabte that the public want in parliament is to bring back the death penalty!

    What do you think?

Personally I think the death penalty is a bit final if a mistake is made, I prefer public stocks like the good old days, where we can pelt rotten veggies and the like. That if a mistake is made, we all get a good time and if we are wrong the defendant gets their life back......plus a few quid

I say bring it back on the condition that there is no shadow of doubt. With todays methods mistakes are less frequent. But even DNA has been altered.

I think they should bring back other forms of punishment too. If some teenage scrote smacks a granny for ?3.50 then that git should be flogged in public, or similar, it may just make it think again, instead of a slap on the wrist and a few days in the HM Hotels.

I'm all for it. There does have to be a solid case & a number of appeals before the sentence is carried out. But I'd put a time scale on it, say maximum 4 years from guilty to dead.

This would only be for the very serious crimes.

The everyday muggings, burglary, theft, anti-social behaviour, etc should be delt with via public floggings, stocks... anything that's both painful & humilliating. If they keep offending then the punishments get more brutal until prison is the only option... but with hard labour (I have an image of something similar to the Nazi death camps).

A punishment should be a punishment.

It's time the authorities started looking at being responsible for people's crimes more. Generally humans do not do bad things and mostly it is a failing in society that makes people do them. I'm not saying "always" there.

Problem with the death penalty is that the general intelligence level of the police force is too low for that responsibility.

Just one incorrect is too many.

I totally agree 100% with that you could not have put it better, what really really amazes me is these low life scum that moan about conditions in prison & all this human right bullshite, send them to a prison in south america or somewhere here:

Prisons are overcrowded with people who have murdered someone or something like that. Now i am in no way preaching about the bible but it states an eye for an eye. So on that theory why do these people take up valuable prison space. Hang them, electric chair them, gas them, kill them outright why give them special priviliges in prison.

if we had the death penalty this would stop murders like bellfield and huntley from claiming compensation for being attacked in prison

and the Birmingham 6 would have been long dead. I'm not sure that I'd be happy with a pardon after I'd been killed, would you?

Had the death sentence been imposed and the 6 had been hanged, then it was later found out the police lied, would that then mean the police who lied would also be sentenced to death for causing the deaths of 6 innocent people?

It's ok to say "we have to be sure", but it was some 16 years after their initial life sentences, of the 6, that the convictions were overturned - how sure would you need to be before you took the life of someone?

I think with the advances in Technology there's certainly a greater chance of the culprit being caught red handed. Where there is no doubt that someone commited murder etc then kill the fnucker.

Anyone commiting serious crimes not worthy of the death penalty should be shipped to Prisons in Third World Countries. Our governemnt could offer the Countries the money to throw the Prisons up. Probably at a 10th of the cost due to labour and material costs, then employ the locals as Prison Officers at their rates. No more costing ?1000 a week to lock up a Prisoner. It would probably work out at about ?10. No more crowded Prisons over here. Third World Countries make money and the vermin get to see what a Prison should be like. Sorted.

bring back the death penalty where there is no shadow of a doubt as to the accused guilt and to the serious offences such as burglary, rape, kiddie fiddling and all other offences where the accused is a habitual committer of said acts the answer should be tattoos and release back into the community with the knowledge that the police are not going to lock them up away from the general population and feed/water and generally cosset them in a surrounding of their peers (prison)

if your house gets burgled and the bloke at number twenty seven has a tattoo with burglar written on his forehead he will be the first visited.

now this not to say that vigilantes then take matters into there own hands but to ostracise from society may sway the scum towards suicide which is a definate win win in my book

Interesting isn't it how many people strongly object to the idea of Sharia law whilst at the same time advocating our own brand of something remarkably similar.

As for the death penalty, I'd think it was a good idea if it wasn't for that niggling thought that at some point an innocent will be executed. Unfortunately, its an inevitable outcome !
