Am totally against the death penalty ... as already said mistakes happen ... not really easy to rectify is it.

However am in favour of hard labour ... you end up in jail and you should be put to work ... the harder the better.

Death penalty.........erm.....maybe....when its totally and utterly conclusive.

but c'mon people....the shite that is the law and sentencing that is a joke...i mean you get 20 years ( gota be something serious right) well person can be out in 10 years maybe 8 for being good.

what a load of bull. oh....did ii forget to say that they get all everything free and they get paid on top for doing any labour(can we call it that ??). and they have the cheek to say they want payrises. WTF????!!!

we need sentences to be punishment and not holiday camps and getting to know your local criminals whilst in there and finding more accomplices.

only way to bring society back to decency is to adapt the eye for an eye. its simple.

we all becoming pussies with pc and cc and mm and ffs etc

and by the way i got pulled today for averaging 107mph.

just read the e-petitions I see more people have voted against bringing back the death penalty than for it But there is several e-petitions bring back the death penalty they can not be to bright or they would have looked to see if anybody else had started one and voted on that. There is several the same about the human rights and the eu

I think death penalty will never come back in UK, its some thing of the past??????

I would like the American way when a person has been found guilty on 1st degree he should spend at list 25 years behind bars with hard labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tools owned: Hammer, Chisel, Crowbar, Punch, Chainsaw, Cutter and Brain!!!

Did you know People will question all the good things they hear about you but believe all the bad without a second thought.

im no fan of these people but if the system fails to protect them then surely the law says they are entitled to compensation. It was the law that they broke and the law that put them in prison.

I dont believe in the death sentence as too many mistakes made in the past just google miscarraiges of justice in the uk- i think back to all the bent coppers who stitched up the ira bombers and thats just the tip of the iceberg. What i would say is that life should mean life and no getting out early. Sex offenders should be treated like murderers too

If people will not abide by the rules of society then they should automatically forfeit any protection society offers no matter what that is.

Yes mate thats what we all want but thats not the way it is- is it.
And its not just murdering scum like huntley that gets attacked its other prisoners too some of them on remand and not proven guilty yet. Fact is the system locks them away but cant protect them, regardless of what they did its unaceptable and needs adressing.

I'm not in favour of bringing it back, mainly because we are supposed to be a progressive society, and this is a backwards step,
plus, executing one innocent person is enough for me to hope it never gets brought back,
I do think though it's time to look again at the sentencing laws, I think judges should have the power to hand down a life sentence and it means life.

I'd bet the amount of innocent people killed if they brought back the death sentence would be a lot less than those killed by re-offenders.

so your saying it would be acceptable for one innocent person to be executed to prevent the life of another innocent person being taken,
like I said i would prefer to have a debate about sentencing laws and the laws surrounding bail.

The problem is, the word " prison " should put the fear of God into criminals, but it doesn't, they ~~~~in laugh at it, for obvious reasons.
